Let's start over......
Dallas had Green Valley Raceway. Became a housing development in the 80s. There was also an outlaw track called Yellowbelly Dragway. We still have An 1/8 mile track at Kennedale and then there is the newer big time track at Ennis where the nationals are held twice a year. Texas Motorplex, I pass it going to and from Athens. Nice place.

I was about 19 yrs old when I raced this Pontiac GTO at the Laplace and Southland Dragstrip's which were both in SE Louisiana. After some engine work it ran 12.7 @109 mph and was my daily driver and ran in the SS/C class but when stock it ran in the B stock class. I also drove a '66 Corvette with a 427 engine in the A stock class that ran a best of 10.8 @128 mph that was right on the National record at the time. The Vette belonged to a buddy that went to college with me at Nicholls State Univ. Kind of funny that both of us ended up driving tractor trailer rig's for awhile!
10.8@128 is freakin fast now, but really fast for the 70s I would imagine!
Those garage doors look great! You found out that your garage door opener remote seems to suck now? The doors on our lakehouse were covered in cedar and you had to be like twice as close to get a signal to the motor.
