What holds windows in the up position? Is it the window motor? My two front windows have started dropping slightly as I drive. Have to hit the up button about every few miles, very irritating.

Jim, yes the window regulators hold the window in position I would take it to the dealer because that shouldn't happen.

Thanks Dave. Is it the regulator or the motor? It's well out of warranty so doubt I will take it to a dealer.

not exactly. As I understand it, the motor is attached to the regulator, or is a part of the regulator maybe is the way to say it. The regulator can break or the motor can go out. You can change motors on the regulator, at least that is how I looked at it. My question was, is there a stop of some kind that holds the window up or is it a problem with the motor itself that allows it to lose tension?

I thought it was one unit and you had to replace it as such. Where the heck is Patrick!?!?!

That's an odd problem for a Ford, Jim. Sounds like you accidentally got Dodge Ram windows in your truck.

Motor resistance plus mechanical resistance holds the glass up.

if it slightly sags, but doesnt continue to drop all the way down id look at regulator first. Probably has a bushing thats failed/failing

I knew it was time for this 5.0 to start cratering! Still sounds good though.

In the past week I've met two guys with torch red Terminators. It's funny, we have full blown convo's... I guessed one guys whole exhaust yesterday at Advanced Auto. He pulled in next to me and I couldn't resist shooting the **** with him. Showed me his whole car. Over 700 rwhp on E85. I'm getting good. Heard the thundering of LT's, figured catless and magnaflow. Bbk Lt's, catless x and magnapacks I love those cars so much. Part of me would love to just get an 03-04 GT and mod it up nice, swap the IRS and then ultimately swap in a 5.0 4v. Just got to keep learning to get to that point.
