All I know is that my '04 with the 5.4 3V and 3.73's would out pull my '11 with the 5.0 and 3.55's up to 50 mph. The '04 did have an Edge programmer with 35" tires. The '11 was stock with 33's. Above 50 mph the 5.0 would come out of it's coma and take off..that's what happen's when you put a Mustang engine in a truck!!
then the 4.6 should've never been allowed in a truck also....imo
How many 32 valve 4.6's have you seen in a pickup whereas the 32 valve 5.0 is now almost a standard in the F-150's. These engines are still mid to high rpm screamers more suited in a sporty type vehicle. Kudos to Ford engineers for making the 5.0 work in a pickup. 3.73's or 4.10's ought to be standard with the 5.0 to get these big heavy truck's going from a start. Almost like the Tundra with 4.30 gearing!

lower gear ratio will also help lengthen trans life by not being worked as hard.

cams, oiling system, transmission, along with other little changes make the 5.0 different in the f150 compared to the mustang....
Agreed... I feel like it has plenty of power. I'm amazed at the 6.2's power... even in the 1 ton I drove numerous time with it that thing sounded awesome and hauled ***.

My truck was actually listed online as a 3.73 Elocker truck. Very rare ford option. I got to the dealership and found out it was actually a 3.31 rear end. So now im on the hunt for some 3.73s after break in

Hey...the engineer's made it work. Not the first time engines that were designed mostly for other uses were made to work in other application's. Remind's me of when GM put the 348/409 block's in passenger car's in the late 50's and early 60's. These engines were used in dump truck's before and were low rpm high torque monster's. High performance cam...three two barrels or two four's in a '58 to '62 Impala and the muscle car was born!
You need to be worried about that seat at work...the government need's your tax money to support all the new people coming into the country!!
