Let's start over......
Gm is so far behind they will always have to keep v8s. As far as Ram i Have a feeling thats why they came out with the ecodiesel in the 1500s but i dont see them doing away with the v8 anytime soon either. I think the EB still has more hp and torque than the little ecodiesel.
Ford should keep a v8 but they need to get more power out of em. Plain and Simple. I like the v8 sound as good as the next person but with the 6 cylinders putting out close to the same and more i dont see it sticking around. Maybe dump the 5.0 and stick with the 6.2 but then it wont meet cafe.
according to Wikipedia the 2015 Expys and the navigator with the 3.5 Eb is up to 380hp and 460lb feet of torque. So its safe to say thats what the 2015 F150 3.5 Eb will have.
whats the 5.0? 360/380 torque?
Just found a small article on the 2.7 Eb
"Ford has not revealed the horsepower or torque specs for this new engine, which was designed from the outset to be equipped with automatic start/stop technology. But I just witnessed this engine on a dynamometer at Ford’s testing centre in Michigan as it ramped up from idle to full throttle and stayed there. It didn’t take long for the twin turbos and exhaust to start glowing red from the heat, but more interesting was the torque figure on the computer in the control room: 345 lb.-ft. from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, which is right in the sweet spot where power is needed — and more than the current 3.7-litre V6, while only slightly less than the 380 lb.-ft. in the 5.0-litre V8."
Maybe they will do a EB 5.0 in the next few years, that would be close to 500hp/500 torque? Decent mileage if you keep your foot out of it..

I could change my thinking but not likely. If I could not buy a v8 new and had to have another truck, I would look at used, or possibly another brand. Just hate to start looking at a new truck now. Don't enjoy the process and with 77,000 on it, my truck us doing great. It's always possible a new one would not do so well.

I hear the v8 everytime I take off from a red light. I really enjoy the sound. I hear it every time I accelerate on the highway. If the stock exhaust did not produce enough sound to hear it, I would have an aftermarket system. Been that way since I got my first car at 14. As I've said before, it's music to me. The only sound better was when I drove a 1939 v12 Lincoln.
Plus, I brainwashed my wife when she was 14. You should have heard her when we drove the EB before buying in 2011. She wanted to know why we were wasting the time.

A Ford buddy back in Abilene built a 289 out of stuff laying around his shop. Put it in a 65 Falcon body that he painted white with orange Shelby stripes. Had a built top loader with 5.11 rear. That thing would sing. Ran a 11.0 at Texas Motorsports.

Only put about 75,000 on that Silverado in three years. I tried to buy a Ford but the salesman tried to play games, thought I was ignorant. So went across the highway and bought the Chevy with no games. Even when I had the Chevy, I could tell the Fords were built better.
All the Olds were solid, long lasting. A 1970 Delta 88 with the 455, a 1974 98 with the 455 and a 1982 98 with a 405 or something like that. Finally sold that one after driving it for 18 years.
