Yup, When i get the oil changed i reset the oil life to 50 percent, then when the oil change message appears its usually right around 5 to 5400 miles everytime. Never went over 5500 miles yet.

Well, the skid plate is all better. Technically it's not really a skid plate I guess. It's a thick foam/plastic air dam thing with heat shields that runs underneath the transfer case and tranny (skid plates are usually metal, right?). It was held on with stupid plastic twist-on clips. I crawled under the truck and took all those off (the ones that were left) and replaced them with extruded U-nuts and locking flange bolts. That thing is definitely not coming off again, at least not by accident.

Usually between 5 and 6K miles is when I change my oil...good time to rotate tires too!
I worked for an oilfield supply company from 1969 to 1971. I had a 1970 C-30 Chevy Longhorn pickup with the close to 9 ft bed. It had a 307 cu inch with a 4 speed manual. That was my company truck for about a year. Looked like this one but dark green. Rare truck now!
