Let's start over......
Saw a horrible wreck on the way to Burledon. At Midlotian, a van that was stolen in Waxahachie was running from the police. Guy was going the wrong way on a divided highway, met a Dodge pickup heading. The bumper on the truck was even with the windshield. What was left of the van burned. Both drivers killed. You can be doing everything right and some idiot takes you out. Sobering when you see it.

Believe me, I thought about it but then decided the view would be better from my living room with a nice little fire going in the fireplace.....
Below is a short clip from a Viking game I went to with my old man back in the day. I remember there was a guy sitting in front of us that day who was visiting from New Orleans and he had a leather flask full of something (I remember him referring to it as "anti-freeze") that he would pass around to all the guys in our area anytime something good happened in the game -- suffice to say that by the 4th quarter none of the adults were feeling much pain.....
If my memory serves me correctly, the Vikings were down by 21 or 27 points in this one and ended up coming back to win the game. I was just a kid at the time, but the sights, sounds and smells from sitting in the stands during this game is indelibly etched in my mind:

Yes -- and then after those early Sunday afternoon games in December I would usually go out and drive the snowmobile around and then come back in and watch the last half of the late games out west. It was always strange as a Minnesota boy to come back in after being outside in the cold and snow and then see a game being played in some place like San Diego and think that there were places where it was sunny and warm -- even in December.....
My father-in-law was from Chicago but he grew up on the south side, which meant he was a Cardinals fan until they moved to St. Louis in the early 60's, after which he by default became a Bears fan. The one thing I have always found strange is that my son, since a very early age, has always liked the Arizona Cardinals -- maybe a message "from beyond" from his grandpa.....

I first thought the front end had been ripped off the truck. Then realized I was looking at the bumper and grill shoved back to the cowl. The front on the can was crushed too plus it burned. The firemen were standing at the cowl looking down inside at what was left of the driver. Never seen so many lawmen, firemen etc on the highway. Even had a copter, guess it had been involved in the pursuit.
