Let's start over......
When did wiper blades get so expensive? A little over a year ago, had them replaced at the dealer for $20. Last week they quoted $40. I said I would do them myself. Bought Trico at Walmart for $18 each. So $36 but they are better quality than the Ford replacements. I was expecting them to be about. $20 a pair.

Yeah, wiper blades are expensive and our Texas sun does it's very best at cooking the crap out of them. I've had better luck with the Rain-X wiper blades than any of them. They'll last a year at least. I had given to me some polymer stuff that was supposed to make them last forever as long as I applied this stuff a couple of times a year. Seems like it made the rubber compound so soft that they fell apart. So another bottle of miracle crap sits on the collector shelf. Gonna have to get a bigger shelf one of these days.
The thing I hate about wiper blades right now is that it seems the manufacturer’s have moved away from using a standard mounting system and now many applications call for some awkward-looking, over-sized plastic mounting adapter to be used - especially on cars with the new “beam type” refills.....😡

Snap old one out and snap new one in.

I never was a fan of how they looked
Awesome weather this weekend - on Saturday I got to take the ol’ F-150 out for a nice run in the country and grabbed some BBQ at one of my favorite joints along the way! Today I “downgraded” and took the ‘97 Cavalier out for a run to charge the battery up and make sure the A/C and everything else was in good working order. It was a pretty good weekend!
Last week was slow at work so I took the opportunity to get the ‘05 F-150 and ‘09 Ranger in for some recall work - the F-150 for the clock spring harness and the Ranger for the air bag inflator. I was a little worried they might not even have the clock spring harness anymore, since that recall was issued back in 2011 - just never got around to doing it.
It’s always comical to watch the service advisors whenever I bring the F-150 into the dealer for something - from the second they open the door you can see their mind kind of telling them, “WTF.....???” Then they check the mileage, get out of the truck to look at it, and then hop back in it to double-check that they’re actually reading the mileage correctly!
