Be careful buying tires

I was watching 20/20 the other night and they were talking about old aged tires that have never been used being sold as "brand new". These old tires will just tear up while you are driving. So y'all be careful and check your tire age.

The warranty is usualy stuck to the side of the battery.

I saw a thread on another Ford truck forum where someone has an 07 F150 with 11k miles and he said his BFGs were cracking/dry rotting. There was also a couple guys with 06s that said their BFGs were cracking too.I wonder if Ford was putting old unused tires on new trucks??

I know there is a major recall that is going to be done on the 04-08 F150 NBS... it is going to be something that's been overlooked for a long time. I know what it is too.

Lack of power in the V6 equipped trim level?

No, seriously though, I've known about date codes on tires forever and a day. I believe they are a federal requirement from the NHTSA.

No it's actually the door locks.

They don't meet the federal Anti-Theft requirements for those model years.

Buy an expensive kit on the internet, which should already be a factory-type thing, that reinforces the part of the lock that is easy to break.. (I read a thread about this a while back but I don't remember exact stipulations....You can break into my truck all day long - there's nothing to steal except the 6" filet knife I keep for emergencies..)

Or just don't lock your truck to prevent the lock being busted any way.

Haha way to avoid the trouble. A lot of vehicles have this problem. You just punch the lock out. Someone did it to my Mom's suburban couple weeks ago. Caught them on tape too but they cops don't think that they will go after them. Bunch of bs if you ask me.

You can get the DOT number off the tire sidewall and look it up before you buy tires. Its public information. You can even find out where, when and other things about your tires

Its much easier to look this DOT numbers now that alot of phones have internet access on them, you can do it in the store before you even talk to a sales man.

yes be very carefull when buying tires when i got my bfg's they had 2 HUGE holes in them, they were about 22" in diameter holes heres a pic

but then they filled in the holes here they are now, i was surprised because they usually say the biggest hole they can patch it like 1/8"

this isnt a problem for me because my tires are usually spacial order.....305/40/22 bgf gforce
