Hersh, lets approach this another way... Why don't you tell me why it's OK for a black man, or woman to get a job over a more qualified white person?
If you're going to bring up slavery as the starting point for all the race issues, I'll be the first one to buy a plane ticket back to Africa for anyone who feels they're treated unfairly here.
You don't seem to understand that racism is a two way street. The younger generation is starting to get it, but it's the older guys who have a chip on their shoulder who are slowing down progress.
I don't think Dr. King ever said "Give us the advantage because we got screwed in the past". If you want to go along those lines of thought, shouldn't the German Government give Jews special treatment?

Thanks for the support guys, this has definitely been one of the better discussions on the forums lately (I liked the "Legalize It" discussion too).
Lets keep it going, this is what the country needs to do as a whole.
I've gotta get started on my new stereo system install, I'll check back in a little later on.

I had a discussion with a black co worker a short while back. We both agreed that for a while the racism thing was going pretty well, but now days it seems as though it's actually getting worse. Many of the reasons for it worsening seem to be affirmative action. It makes whites and blacks resent one another when it comes to jobs.
Of course the media completely blowing up any minor incident with two races into a major racial war doesn't help either.
