Hurricane Ike Look out N. O.!

Well, looks like God is going to finish the job afterall. Ike is headed into the Gulf and from the expected track, will say Hello New Orleans! Did you guys hear that the City of San Antonio and the Valero gas company came up with $7,000.00 in gas cards for the grand citizens of New Orleans to go home when Gustav came thru? What a bunch of losers. Drive all of the way from NO, don't stop in Houston, but drive to SA and then don't have the money or the gas to go home. What a bunch of morons! They had it on the SA TV news. I thought it kinda strange as the folks they interviewed were driving an Escalade and the other a new Tahoe. Jeez, I guess I missed something when I was growing up. Here's the Stormpulse on IKE.

Hanna is on the East Coast right now. We weren't supoposed to get the rain till tomorrow afternoon but it's started already. Supposed to get at least 7 inches of rain and damaging winds. Ike is following right behind Hanna at this point.

Hanna is supposed to really pick up speed as it moves up the east coast, which is good for you all on the shore. Ike looks like it's heading towards the gulf, but it may take the turn to the north too. Weird how the Atlantic storms are kicking into gear all of a sudden.

Saw on one of the discovery channels a few years back that the increased number of storms coming in from the atlantic( like it has been for the last several years) is on a 100- 150 year cycle.

still way to early to tell where Ike is going to end up at. If you look at the computer modles, the tracks are everywhere. Although the storm was a catagory 4 a few days ago, its now a weak Cat 3 now with 115 mph winds. It will probably fall to Cat 2 today with 110 or less mph winds.

I don't think Ike is much to worry about right now, I think most of the damage from Ike will be from the heavy rains that will hit. Well see though, fingers crossed.

It's a bit early to tell about ole Ike. They wont know till late next week where it'll end up, and it'll be Tuesday or so before it hits Florida (if it even does).

Some weird High pressure area is pushing it west and south when normally they go north west pretty soon after they start moving. If that area pushes it in the same direction it's going and it says on that track then it could very well hit the Louisiana/Mississippi coast again.

That would suck for them (and all my friends/family living in Southern Louisiana). My sister and her family just got power Thursday afternoon as they live about 20 miles East of Baton Rouge. My friends in Baton Rouge still dont have power. It's been out since Monday around noon.

Just what we need, another storm. Kinda like right after Katrina with Rita. Unless it's a cat 4 or 5, I'm riding it out. As far as I'm concerned Ike can go look for Tina!

My youngest girl lives in old town Charleston and Hanna paid them a visit last night. She said it was just a bunch of rain and a little wind. They were suppose to get winds to 60 mph but they didn't get it apparently. She said it was no big deal and her and some of her friends went out to eat and drinks last night. I had looked at the bouy reports and none of those were showing winds over 30 mph. I assume the hurricane winds are confined to small area of the storm.

Hey PawPaw, didn't you say you just built a fishing camp? How did it survive? If IKE goes into your area, it looks like you'll be on the easy side of it......if there is an easy side.

I am taking the kids to Disney on the 20th to the 26th. Hopefully a hurricane doesn't spoil their vacation.
