DNC Flags
I'm not normally one to start political threads, but this one really chaps me.

despite the spin the 'crats are trying to put out on "stolen" flags, the McCain campaign took the flags, and handed them out at the CO springs rally, and a local boy scout troop placed them on graves at the local national cemetary

I guess I shouldn't bash the DNC too much, it's a problem that the everyday American is failing at.
A couple of months ago, I went to the "Rolling Thunder" protest in Washington, DC... if you don't know what it is, it's veterans on bikes who protest the way veterans are being treated by the VA system.
During the parade, which my dad was in (my bike was in Alaska), I noticed a flag fall off a bike onto the ground. I mentioned it to the DC Policeman, and he said "stay behind the barrier."
I went ahead, and walked down to the crosswalk, around the barrier, up to where the flag was laying on the ground. I picked it up, and stared at the cop daring him to say something (He didn't). What really pissed me off was that this was a protest for VETERANS (of which I am one), and nobody cared that a flag was laying on the street.
What a sad state our country has degraded to.

The DNC defended itself in a statement by saying that the US should be proud that the DNC had 75K people waving US flags at the convention. They also claimed the flags were to be shipped back to the maker for 'Re-Distribution'. They accused McCain supporters of stealing the flags.
Just curious as to what shipper would accept open plastic bags for transport...
BTW, I am sitting in our spare bedroom. The room is still furnished for my son, except for the computer. I have 2 US Flags on 25" sticks sitting in a vase on a bookshelf in this room. My son is 22 and an E-2 in the US Navy. His new wife is 23 and is also an E-2 in the Navy. They both joined in May, 2007. The flags were originally bought by me to display at his 'going away party' last year. I think they cost about $2 each. I treat those 2 little flags with the same respect as I do the one that laid on my Father's Casket at his Funeral. My Father was a Korean War Vet. Luckily, he came home alive and lived to be 80 years old. He only passed away this year.
F#%& anyone that disrespects a Flag of any size. They are NOT just props for a TV Broadcast!
