Calling Shines & His Cronies (Bible Question)
On the television show "The West Wing". there's a scene where the President has a confrontation with someone from the religious right, and there's a flurry of quotes being said.
It looks to me like he owned her *** pretty good.
My question is:
Is it true and accurate what he said, or was it 'made for TV' bs?
Here's a link to the clip:

Thanks

I am not anyone's "croney", but I'd like to answer your question if I may.
I do understand the reason why many people confuse Judaism with Christianity, but this has been touched on in many threads here. That entire video was spent discussing Jewish Law, which was detailed in the book of Leviticus. A solid example of what the New Testament says about homosexuality can be found in Romans 1:26-27 -
26For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
That's not the real issue here though. The real issue is that too many people are hung up on the sins of other people, instead of cleaning up their own act. It's easy to point out a gay person and identify their sin, but it's not our job to focus on those things. We have our own sins to deal with. Too many Christians are turning people away from the faith because of this kind of judgemental behavior, and it plays right into the hands of those who hate us, and is the reason why the 'President' was right in his speech.
If more Christians start caring about loving people, as they are called to do, instead of taking on God's role as Judge, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

1muddytruck,
Thank you for that.
My thread title was meant in jest, but I'm hoping you knew that, if not, my apologies.
I really enjoyed your answer and even though I don't subscribe to any religion, I have a very good 'built-in' common sense meter, and that answer right there made 100% sense to me for which I am in perfect agreement with.
Your attitude and perspective is refreshing and I really enjoyed reading your reply.
Thank you

May I also pay my respects to Mr. 1muddytruck.
I am an agnostic, I am comfortable with that and I do not try to foist my choice on anyone else. At the same time, I have complete respect for all of the religions out there and the folks that belong to them.
I tend to stay out of those threads that deal with religion primarily because there seems so little tolerance of the posters for a point of view, or a religious belief, that is different from their particular religion. There is no debate, only shouting.
If all of us had 1muddytruck's attitude, I think we would all be better off.
I enjoyed your post Sir and I thank you for it.
BTW, I could not listen to the video as my home office is being painted and my primary PC is covered in plastic and I am using a backup PC with no sound card. But....it doesn't matter, I'll listen to it later tonight.
Thanks again.

You were able to randomly puctuate extremely well, even on a blank screen! We have a lot of posters that can't use punctuation and they can see their screen.

I also remember reading a verse in the old testament somewhere that stated, A woman can't attack a man by grabbing his *****.
Most of the book "The Talmud" {Old testament}was to teach the Jewish people how to live a cleaner life, and free of disease. It is true, even in Battle a man was to be cleansed, and not enter the camp for a certain amount of time.
I don't align my self with Shines rhetoric either, just in case your wondering. I believe things a little differently. I stayed out of Church, for as many reasons as you can name.
