Long trip
Well I'm back from that vacation my new wife insists on calling a honeymoon; from L.A. to Reno, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, San Franscisco and back. I know: most of you didn't notice I was gone, frankly neither did I.
But on the subject of trucks, mine performed beautifuly. 1500 miles and we got a great ride, lots of room, no mechanical problems and a lot of gas station receipts. Actually it varied between 14 and 17 depending on the size and number of hills, and on one stretch gave me 19.7 mpg! Unbelievable.
I now have a better understanding (and sympathy for other sufferers) of "gear hunting". Especially on hills with the cruise control on, that thing did everything it could to keep speed, including shifting up and down a dozen times. I turned it off on the hills after a while and just the let the truck lose a little speed, but it stayed in 4th longer.
I've decided to move to San Francisco and open a Brake and Clutch shop, I'll let you know when I'm a millionare.
Glad to be back but you guys sure talk a lot, it took me half a day to catch up on all the posts.
