What jobs have you worked in the past?
Seems like an appropriate time to see who's done what and what some of us can fall back on if need be.
I only have a HS education but have done many things and loved doing most of them. I wouldn't change a thing.
Pumped gas back when self serve was a novelty.
Worked in gravel pits starting with grunt work and worked my way up to running heavy equipment. Same with pipelines. I can operate pretty much anything with a motor, levers and pedals.
Started as an oil changer on big trucks and worked my way up to being a licensed Heavy Duty Transport Mechanic.
Learned to do book keeping to help my wife when she had her own small business. That's one job I hated. Already forgot most of what she taught me and don't want to learn it again.
Learned to do reports for an oil and gas well testing company and did that at night for years. That was one of the things my wife's company did. Made good bucks at that.
Taught myself a lot about computers. I can build'em, break'em and fix'em and have made plenty money on the side doing it. Well except for the breaking part.
Worked in a wood craft shop creating wooden perpetual calendars. Also learned the ropes of working the big craft shows selling them. Used to travel up and down the East Coast for the shows. If you have a wooden calendar on your wall or in your closet that your wife bought 15 years ago there's a slight chance I had a hand in making it.
My current job is a HD Mechanic at a small truck shop in a small town. It's family owned and so far it's doing ok. Not a lot of competition here. You never know though, I could show up tomorrow and not have a job. I'm not worrying myself about it. I'm sure I could find another job even if this is a small town. Might not even be something I've done before and most likely wouldn't be for the same wage I make now. I'm ok with that.
Also have a Class 1 license (CDL for you U.S. folks). I might decide to take up trucking one day.
I did get laid off from one job. I worked in a gravel pit out by the AFB in Austin during the boom from 85-90. Once all the building slowed down so did we. I was only out of work for as long as it took me to pack up and move to Tennessee. I could have found another job in Austin but was ready for a change of scenery.
That's my work history. What's yours?

Hey WMR, LTNS! Yes we just got hammered with the snow. Probably not as much as you. I haven't been out yet this morning but looks like we got 4-6 inches and it's windy now. This is my weekend off so probably won't even leave the house until Monday.
Looks like this cold snap is going to sick around all next week.
silversvt04, have fun in the tar sands. If I was single I would have headed there long ago. I would love to run some of that huge equipment they have there.

Can't wait to see where this grad degree will take me, Ive had a lot of good experience for only being 25.

I used to be a lumberjack, but I just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the ax.
I worked in a blanket factory, but it folded.
I was a welder at the submarine repair yard, until it went under.
I had a job in a soup kitchen, but I got canned.
I was a cobbler's apprentice and he gave me the boot.
I bagged groceries until I was sacked.
I was a member of the Flying Walendas Trapeze Act, but I was let go.
