There are people who do care about MPG's. Remember, for every 1 MPG, you get 25 extra miles. With gas prices on the rise again (in my area) its hard not to care on your mileage. I think people who don't care to check their mileage are:

1) People that don't drive much.
2) People that have lots of money.
3) People that are too scared if they see their actual MPG's.

As I said, I care about my MPG's because I drive alot. This truck is used in my family business and as my personal plaything, so it is in my best interest to have her sip rather than slurp. The truck isn't even a year old (bought May 99) and it just past 30K miles. Here is my hypothical situation.

If I get 4000 miles a month, and get 16 MPG, filling in at 350 miles (21.875 gallons), that is 11.4 fillups. Assuming my gas price is $1.599, that is $399.75 a month.

If I get 17 MPG filling in at 350 miles (20.588 gallons), that equates to $375.30 a month.

If I get 18 MPG filling in at 350 miles (19.444 gallons), that equates to $354.45 a month.

45 bucks is the opportunity cost for one month in my hypothetical situation. In a year running 16 MPG's would have cost me 540 bucks which I could've used to buy a Superchip Flipchip, or a set of new tires.

Good guy, those gas prices must be eatin' you alive !!!
4000 miles a month?
1.59 for gas?
Is that for premium?
BTW I'm getting about 13cty/19hwy .
The price of premium gas is what has made me hold off on the superchip.

$1.59 and 9/10's cents regular at Daly City Texaco. Atleast it is charged to the business and not me personally, cause that would wipe out half my monthly income (parttimer). Remember I said hypothetical situation, actually, I take it back cause I do travel ~4000 miles a month, fill up 2-3 times a week. I go to school everyday, 30 miles roundtrip (150 miles a week). 3 days a week I do an early morning delivery, add 45 miles a week. 3 days, I go from office to warehouse add 30 miles. Erands around town maybe 45 miles. 2 times doing the San Jose-Fremont route, 260 miles. Add the personal miles, viola 400 bones a month in gas.
