Question on credit cards

Alright everyone, I have been thinking about getting a credit card for some time now. The main reason is that I am going back to Iraq again. Last time I was there all I had was my debit card. The problem with that was my bank has a security feature that will lock out both my debit card and my wifes until we call them and tell them its ok. They say they lock it out because it is being used in two different places to many times. They would never put a note on there to not lock it out. It was a pain trying to deal with them for 15 months over my deployment. This time I just want to use a credit card. So i guess my question is what should I look for. What features should I look for and yata yata yata. There are so many kinds I dont know where to start. If any help or maybe suggestions on which one would be nice. By the way I have very good credit so that wont be an issue. Thanks guys and gals.

From: Georgia on my mind...

Low interest, high balance, pay it off in full at the end of the month.

Check with military banks in your area, I'm sure they'll be more accommodating to you.

if your in the military you should be using USAA. otherwise your making a wrong decision. period.

also, if you dont get an eagle cash card there, then your also making a wrong decision. works just like a debit, pulls straight from checking, you can get cash back, taken at ALL AAFES facilities down range. but it doesnt have your credit card number on it, so its 100% safe to use, plus it will never "lock out" on you.

i have a USAA CREDIT CARD (yes its different from the USAA DEBIT CARD, even thought the debit card has the credit logo)

i pay it off COMPLETELY every month.

i just cant understand why you wouldnt use USAA. have you ever called them? their ENTIRE customer service department is RETIRED/EX MILITARY! it takes one phone call or email to tell them you are deploying. they set everything up for you.

ALL credit cards will lock you out when you are making charges for an extended period of time in a state and near your address, then all the sudden making charges across the globe? yeah, its called FRAUD PROTECTION

why arent you asking your squad leader this stuff?

I dont know much about what the military offers you but it's probably better. If you still plan to get credit card, try to get one with no interest intro offer (If you dont pay by the end of the month you wont get hit with interest till after the year is up), get Visa or Mastercard (Due to the number of places that take it), Get as HIGH a credit limit as you can (Just dont be tempted to overcharge, the debt to credit ratio helps your credit score alot, i.e. $1000 charged on a $3k limit is 33% ratio while $400 of a $500 limit is 80%, you want that percentage low to help your score)

All in all, thanks for your service and I pray for all you guys a safe return.
