Fog Lights when no fog.. WHY?

Stock or aftermarket fog light guys. Why do you run your fog lights in town when there is not the slightest hint of fog?

I drive to work at 4am. My fogs are aimed down a little more than normal, so I can see any "critters" along side the highway. They really do help on non-foggy days

It does help see a bit better I notice, plus it looks good. Nobody gets blinded by them so, no harm no foul.

So you need more light in town to see what exactly? More of the vehicles bumper in front of you?

I guess I already knew the answer. "Because it looks cool" That's strange because it looks exactly the opposite to me.

As most have said, more light=more visibility. The fog lights fill the dark gap between the front of the truck and where the headlights start.

Also for animals, be they wildlife, strays, whatever. They often have a knack for running directly at the side of vehicles. Since the fog lights fill that gap you can actually see them.

Why the rage?

That could also be taken as other traffic ( being more visible to them ) . Oncoming vehicles, vehicles turning off a side street, etc.

I know I run PIAA Crystal Ion fog lamps on my motorcycles ( mounted low ) to provide additional "foot print" to the front, so cages will hopefully see me better.

Could just be an interpretation of "visibility".

^^ exactly

Why does this bother you so much?

I'll bet you also get upset when people drive around with their convertible tops down and heater on.

No rage. I just personally think it looks silly to drive around in town with fog lights on when there's no fog.

I remember reading on here that someone was harassed or threatened with a ticket for running fog lights on a clear night ???

Okay. Let's all rage on the ones that drive in the rain with no lights, then. That one I will rage on every time.

Yeah that one gets me. Kansas even has a law that requires you to turn your headlights on when wipers are in constant use. About 50% follow it.
