X2

It's pretty much the same way on my 2008. I had to use my dads old strap oil wrench instead of the nice socket ones that fit over the end. Still took me 20 minutes to figure out how to jam my arm up there in some way that I could turn it.

How about: "I wish I would have put a coat of black paint on the rim of the spare tire."

That's a good tip! What's the spare like by default, just unprotected steel?

IWE solenoid - never heard of it before, but just did some searching based on your comment. Is that something that people are proactively replacing every xx miles, or just something to keep an eye (ear) out for and replace it ASAP if it starts buzzing?
depends on the year of your truck and what solenoid it has on it. look on the passenger side of the firewall, behind the battery. if there is a shield to prevent water from dripping on the solenoid then i think you got the new style. if there is no plastic drip cover then you got the old. i did mine cause of the start of the grinding and what i read on the forum. couple bucks now saved a lot later. and they never break where or when its convenient.

It's painted already, but it rusts quickly.
