Is this a good deal?

My uncle just gave me his airplane, all I have to do is pay the $50/month parking at the local airport. This plane has been in my family for over 35 years (dad, uncle, and grandpa all owned it, selling back to each other several times to keep it in the family). Now I'm glad I get to continue the tradition

I don't seem to have a real-life picture of her anywhere, but I did recreate it in my Flight Sim, so here's a screenshot of what its supposed to look like

Its a 1964 Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee, 2 seater, 160hp Lycoming flat 4, 320ci. She needs some work, but I plan on getting her back up to par with the rest of them.

Now I just need to finish my flight training.

Sounds cool man, I bet it would be insane to fly a plane like that.

quite the contrary. this is the toyota camry of airplanes. its slow, easy to maintain, and very forgiving. burns only 9 gallons per hour, so in some cases its cheaper to fly than to drive.

So you mean it will suddenly go WOT and all the controls will go limp?

Nice plane though. Good luck on the flight training.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I got to pull my father-in-laws body out of one like that. Make sure to check the wings at the fuselage. His right wing came off. Hitting the ground at 140 mph makes for a lousy day. Best of luck, yer gonna need it.

Nice pick up. Be glad you got the Camry of planes----speed costs. Those are fixed, not retracts, right? Saves you another grand in maintenance each year. Looks like you got a solid aircraft.

Have fun with it!

Wow, your park fees are dirt cheap. Our local, Palo Alto, for open tie down starts at $90 and goes up to $150. For a hangar, you're looking at $250+. And they're booked solid.

Sounds like you have a super sweet opportunity there!

I'm going home the saturday after next, and should have my valance painted by then. I wonder if the airport staff would let me "borrow" a taxiway for a photo shoot?

I'm no stranger to accidents, my grandpa had a Mooney and lost his friend due to something as preventable as fuel starvation But its going for a major maintenace inspection here pretty soon

2350 SMOH. shes old and worn. since new, thats the third engine thats been in it. and of course what would training be without the turn & bank, VOR and slip ball instruments?

correct. like I said, grandpas Mooney- was a 200 hp turbocharged retractable gear airplane. as sexy as they are, I'd hate to see the annual costs on one

is it towered? shes sitting at a small field right now, and after I get it annualed I'm moving it to Tallahassee, where I'm sure the costs are higher for a Class D airport
