First day on motorcycle ~35 miles

Well, my friend and I went out for a little ride on our motorcycles. Needless to say, I'm quite impressed and satisfied over my latest purchase of a motorcycle, namely a Ninja 250R. It's a great little bike for starting out or just for a daily commuter.

I thought it was going to be hard, but it's actually quite easy and very enjoyable.

The only thing I hated was my friend and I got tailgated by some morons a few times. They have no clue how fast us bikers can stop.... but for the most part, people were ok.

I just can't believe how such a small engine can bring this bike to life. It's amazing.

Tomorrow we are going out again, and hopefully try for 100 miles or so of easy riding.

That first motorcycle ride on public streets is quite scary. Not because you will do something wrong but will other drivers do something wrong?

Is the engine in your 250 the same engine in the KX250F dirt bike? Or is it air-cooled and tamed?

I don't ride a bike but my dad does and I can't stand seeing people tailgate motorcycles. Even with the loud exhaust they are still completely oblivious that the bikes are there.

Good luck and enjoy riding.

Just wait till you jump on a 600 or higher, the 250 is a good learning platform though.

Welcome to the riding club.

Hello!

Yep.

I still have my VFR and my Bighorn, but my ride of choice these days is the VTX.

27-inch seat height and Barcalounger comfort is very compelling to my old tired butt

Manwell - 100 miles? Chit, that's just a quick spin around the block

Be safe, y'all! I'm goin' ridin' right now - gonna hit 80 degrees today!

Always ride within your skills. Keep your head on a swivel and watch out for the asshats out there. Take a rider safety course as soon as you can. Have fun. Let us know when you do your first Ironbutt (1,000 miles in 24 hrs or less).

I've always wanted a bike, but it'd be a death wish here in Orlando. If I didn't kill myself, I know the other drivers around me would. A friend of a friend got hit pretty bad after a car pulled out of a taco bell right into the lane he was in right in front of him. He went headfirst into the car and got bashed up pretty good. There's way too many stupid people in Orlando to own a bike in my opinion.

Congrats on the bike and the first ride! I remember when I first started and was so proud of myself for doing a 20 mile ride and even getting to 60mph! It's all scary when it's new.

Congrats on the bike...I remember my first sportbike, it was an 03 R6. I put about 28,000 miles on it (about 2,000 were track miles, including Daytona).

I want to get another one. As far as a liter bike, I'll stick with my 600's, plenty of power and more fun to throw around in some twisties.

Congrats! and welcome to the club.

As soon as you can, get into a beginners riding course (if you havent) they talk about contact patch, lean angles, braking...all the good stuff you need to know!
