The Thread Crapping Thread

My 2001 Supercrew 5.4 has been acting up in the last 2 months, and today just stopped. So as I'm driving it started to sputter and when you would hit the gas it would die out and backfire. Finally today it did the same thing and then wouldn't turn on(would crank but not start). When the tow truck arrived I was able to start it again but still spuddering. When I got it home I took out the mass flow meter and cleaned it, now it starts right up sounds good but when I drive it it drives fine till I get on it. When I hit the gas hard it revs, sputters and doesn't go anywere. Any Ideas? Maybe a bad mass flow? I've installed new Accel coils and spark plugs a little while back so don't think its a coil problem.

tarajerame,
So if i dont put a programmer, re gear, and super charger in my truck im going to run "thru transmissions and fuel like they are going out of style?" Gas I believe but "transmissions" gimme a BREAK!
Anyways thanks to the rest of you guys! I will be purchasing a programmer soon, hopefully a Gryphon. Thanks Again!

you would be fine with 33 on stock gears. my work truck has had 33 and now 35's since it was new. it is an 04 with about 200,000 miles on it. with the 35's it could use new gears but i don't believe it is imperative. the stock gears can handle 33's imo
i would save up though and get something you really want or need, don't just buy something to buy something. that is something i wish i grasped

Honestly my favorite mod was the hid's from www.DDMtuning.com and the two hellas behind my grill with hid's. Makes for a sexy combo and should cost around 200 bucks.
Best advice, save your money. Im still in high school, work two part time jobs, gave up being a kid to have nice toys. Its not all that great.

While praising the lack of oil contamination on the MAF (just found a couple of teeny bugs, is all).
Oh heck - why stop there? Oil filter reuse: "Works good, just hose it out and dry it off."
