Supporting your country would be something like standing behind your president, whether you like him or not, supporting wars, flying an American flag in your front yard, etc. Watchin soccer doesn't even top my list of showing my support for America.

I'm not a huge fan of soccer either, but like said before, I'll support the USA.
You'll support the USA team, but that has nothing to do with supporting your country!

I can't stand Baseball but I support the US team in their major tourneys. It's the American thing to do.

You should try it.
As I said before, the "American thing to do" would be support your troops, support your president, etc. Supporting a soccer team isn't exactly the most patriotic thing you can do. Now if shifty was to say GO SPAIN!! then that'd be a different story.

Go America even in a sport i dislike. go team USA wooohoo.
Soccer ISN'T one of Americas top sports. Baseball, Football, and Basketball...those are Americas sports we take pride in.

Exactly!

My thoughts on the World Cup:

It's nice and all that ya'll are passionate about such a dull sport, BUT because someone doesn't like the sport doesn't mean that he is not supporting his country. If one were to say root for oh heck idk Korea, then you could say someone might not have his countries back. But rooting on the USA team in the World Cup and supporting your country are two totally different things. BTW if ya couldn't tell I'm no fan of soccer. I played from about the age 10 to 14 and that was it for me. I hated the sport personally. But I respect soccer players because it takes an insane amount of cardio to be able to last a full game.

I know nothing about what? Supporting my country? Heck if I don't, sorry supporting a childs game isn't included on my patriotic things to do to support my country.

No Italy, No France, WOW!

I would like to see USA make it to the SEMIS. Ghana should be a win and then hopefully South Korea can beat Uruguay. But for the Finals I am thinking Brasil v. Portugal.

Today, however, according to FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the United States has more official soccer players than any other nation in the world - almost 18 million.

I'm making no predictions. I'm just going to sit back and watch the games. It's all up in the air!

Once again, "watching and cheering on a team" and supporting your country don't go hand in hand. Call me communist, but I won't watch the world cup and I'm no less of a patriotic supporter for it, bottom line.

Yes they do. But really, it's OK you're not patriotic. We live in a free country.

You still fail to get it.

You know, you don't have to post in this thread if you don't like the content. There are plenty of threads out there that may interest you, like some UFC threads, and a few threads about pro wrestling.

I don't fail to see anything. You're sitting here saying I'm an unpatriotic american because I am not rooting on team usa in the world cup. I'm not rooting against them one bit, I just fail to see how supporting a pro team makes you more patriotic than I. How do you not know that I'm not/was in the military? How do you know a thing about me, or how I support America. There's plenty of threads out the bashing Obama. Are they not patriotic for not standing behind the man in office? I do my part to the best of my ability to show my patriotism and I have the utmost respect for our military and men/women in office. I may not wholey agree on some issues but they do have my respect.

BTW how or what makes you think I might be into UFC? Yes I do like to watch the sport, but it comes behind baseball and football (not futball). I've done said soccer is a true sport, but it's not truely "Americas sport". Football is the most watched sport, Baseball is America's past time, soccer is what?
