Whats this engine worth??

I just got a 96 cobra engine with 40K miles on it with pcm, harness
Only damage in the accident was the 2 pig tails that lead to the coil packs where broken off and a little battery acid splashed one of the valve covers.

I’m trying to figure out the value of this thing and trying to make fair trades in my area and can’t seem to get an answer in today’s economy

Does any one know if I could take the pcm to a tuner and find the MPH at the time of the accident and the miles? I would think there would me some kind of number linking the engine to the pcm. It’s been out of the car sense 99.

Thanks

Ebay and junk yards are bad imo to compare to. Guys at the yards charge an unrealistic price and there aren’t any on ebay with the low miles on them and then you find ones that don’t state the miles so wtf I cant gage a fair asking price.

I’ve seen guys on various stang sites selling just the used block in need of rebuild for $500 and heads for $250 haven’t seen what the intake goes for. But I would be a fool to split a lower millage motor up that way.

Please throw some figures out there for the average guy selling it out of his garage.
Links any thing thanks guys

Thanks for the ball park figure that’s about what I was thinking.

Yeah I hear you on the long distance shipping it would be murderous for sure.

How hard do you think it would be to put in a newer f150? in place of a 4.6 on a 05? cpu, tranny, drive line? Would be cool to see. best of luck to you and your sale.

balllpark I would guess 750 MINIMUM. Easily a $1500 engine since its low mileage and a complete longblock

Id say $1000 at most.

Its gonna be alot tougher to sell than if it was a regular 4.6 because I dont think alot of people are gonna be needing a motor for a '96-'98 Cobra.

I could really use some nice rims and tires with AT tread on them or something like it. I need them for the winter. I would like a stock or clean aftermarket rim. in 17 or 18in

They would need to fit my 01 Expedition

5lug pattern 5x135mm

I've got a set (4) of the oem 17" alloys for an Expy, they were on my STX. They are in nice shape. I'll post a pic later. Maybe we can do some swapping??

Sold for $900 plus dude drove 4 to 5 hrs to pick this thing up with his own cherry picker.

He said it’s going in his AC Cobra replica that now has a 97 4.6 SOHC Gt. He said the extra 80hp plus the little to no extra weight between the 2 engines should make for a sweet combo.

I asked if he had plains for a blower and he said it was bad enough with a 220hp engine in a 1500 lbs car. LOL I hope he has fun with his new toy =)
