American

I experienced a strong feeling of patriotism recently when I had the privilege of watching a bald eagle drag a very large , large mouth bass up onto the shoreline of my property an proceed to devour it. Unfortunately I had neither my cell phone nor camera on me at the time and could not get pictures. I continue to watch for them daily. They remind me of how lucky I am to be an American.

From the bass's perspective - I'll bet he's wondering how being dragged from yer own home and eaten alive is considered patriotic.
And wishing that eagles shared Kobi's aversion of fish

I didn't know there were any bald eagles in Dracut. I'm originally from Tewksbury. Granted I was 5 when I lived there, I dont remember much

The Bald Eagles are making a comback in this area. They are often spotted above and around the merrimac river. They have also been seen feeding on a deer carcass that was frozen on the ice down towards Amesbury, MA. last winter. I've been observing two imature eagles, and the adults over long pond all summer. Its a thrill everytime. I had one adult eagle soar over my boat as I was traveling north towards Pelham NH. the wingspan had to be over 6 feet. I watch for them whenever the water is calm, because I assume they can see the fish better.

Yes, I've seen a few here, in the exit 7-8 area of the MA Pike. They are making a comeback.

The eagles are awesome. So was that bass he tore up. Id say it was the biggest Ive seen on this pond in my 11 years here. It was at least 5 lbs. Ive had a hook straightened out and a few snapped lines fishing off my dock. And Ive heard of up to 8 lb. ers being in the pond. A neighbor had told me that the eagles have retractable talons, and that they cant fly with much more than a 4 lb. fish. which must be why he dragged it onto the shoreline. Im still cursing myself for not grabbing the camera.

Such a large powerful bird with such a small pitiful chirp. Kind of like the Mike Tyson of the bird world.
