LCD TV Help
2-3 years ago I bought a Phillips 42" LCD HD tv. It's been great; BUT --- in the past few months a shadow (actually two) have begun to appear on the screen. The set, though expensive, is long out of warranty.
I captured a picture of the primary problem - yes I know it's upside down, but you can still see the issue. My question is, has anyone else seen this develop on their LCD set - regardless of make/model - and if so, what was the fix?
At present the problem is not so bad as to make the TV unusable - usually you can't even see it except when the overall background is of a light color and the action is slow. (There is a second, less noticeable shadow in the upper left corner).
Is the set dying? (Odds are it's cheaper to replace than repair.)

Hi.
Panel defect, most likely.
The artifacts are called 'Mura'.

Not what I'd call normal, but it is a problem with LCDs. The monitor I have for my laptop has terrible horizontal banding, but there's not much I can do for it since it's a few years old.
You could contact Samsung and see if they'd be willing to work with you. Try to get some pictures to send them.
