NCSU in Los Angeles

Got the phone call, I'm heading off to LA for some dive work out there. It's got to be better than my last trip Bayonne, NJ!

I've never been to LA, any one have some suggestions for places to go, things to see, food to eat or beer to drink?

Grab yourself an In-N-Out burger and then get the hell out of California as quickly as you can.....

To prepare your lungs for breathing the air in LA I would recomend running your truck in the garage with the door closed. When we were there the pollution was so thick you could not see the sky.

LA sucks, do this world a favor and destroy it.

The recommendation of In-N-Out burger is very legit though.

He is a diver. He will have bottled air.

My advice, stay out of the bad parts of L.A.

Also not a big fan of LA, but it does have a few things worth doing.

The Universal City Walk and Universal Studios amusement park is a good place to spend a day. Lots to see, eat and do. FWIW, if you spend the extra coin, you can buy the mother of all fast passes for the amusement park. Walk right up and get on the ride. I think it costs like $90 extra. The Simpsons ride is awesome.

If you want to see a nice part of LA, go up to Santa Monica. Great beach, pier and the pedestrian shopping district (3rd Street Promenade).

Like dave said santa monica is nice, or go to malibu. Malibu has some amazing cliffs and sight seeing areas. Pretty cool. You could also hit up beverly hills and check out all the stars houses. Otherwise most of LA is a dump. Downtown is cool for like a minute. haha What city will you be in?

Turn around and leave before the Kalifornia po-pos pull you over for having a nice truck and/or being white

California isn't that bad
Can't wait to get back myself

what part of LA are you going to be in? Manhattan Beach and Hermosa are always fun, although it's probably a chilly 60 degrees right now. Downtown LA is getting better, lot of good bars if you know where to look.
In-N-Out is great, or if you find yourself in the ghetto (Beverly and Rampart), check out the original Tommy Burger. Ghetto as hell but great chili burgers.

All you guys hate on California way to much! Its really not that bad.

NCSU, Like mentioned above, first thing on the list needs to be in-n-out, regardless. You can get a double double, drink and fries for about $6, But if you go my route and get animal style fries (highly recommended, They coat the fries with cheese, grilled onions, and there sauce) it will be about $9. If you want a tip on the best way to eat them let me know.

Other fun things to do in Smell A are go to Manhattan and Hermosa Beach like 2low2slow said. If possible you HAVE to see Venice Beach. Crazy stuff goes on there. Kind of ghetto but still awesome. I usually go in the summer time when it is crazy. Not sure what it is like in the winter.

You can go to the amusement parks, but IMO they arent that great. SOme rides are fun but Its like $15 for a sandwich. A little to pricey for me.

If its your type of thing, you can go to the first McDonalds. I know that is somewhere in LA.

Hollywood is fun. But your not gonna see Vincent Chase and his Entourage walking around like you see on TV. It is fun to see the stars on the ground and see all the sweet cars.

I am down in San Diego, about 2 hours from Smell A, if you want to take a cruise down let me know. Id be glad to show you the good surf and the best mexican food around.

And lastly, I dont know how you dirve but (if you dont know already), if your going to go 65 stay in the right hand lane on the freeway. Otherwise a safe cruising speed is 70-73 unless your in the fast lane which you will want to go about 80.

Otherwise, enjoy the beautiful sunshine that very few people on the forum have this time of year!!

Definitely hit up In N Out burger. Get your fries animal style.

Also, Venice Beach is always fun. Lots of freaks.

Huntington Beach is nice. I always like to walk down Main Street. Jack's and HSS usually have some cool t-shirts that I always need. Lots of restaurants too. Wahoo's fish tacos is always good. Spark Woodfire is good, but not cheap. Don't eat at Ruby's on the pier.

If you smoke weed, go see Venice. If you want to chill, visit Santa Monica/Malibu. You should tour Hollywood, too.
It's not that bad, just stay away from south-central lol.

Venice = Hippies and general low-lifes (used to live not too far from Venice Beach, good times)

Santa Monica - full of yuppies and over-priced stores/tourists. I prefer Manhattan or Hermosa Beach myself.

Hollywood - not at all like the movies try to make it out to be, stay away from Sunset unless you like over priced "bars," fake women, and douchebags that drive up and down the strip in the most expensive cars they can afford.

Riverside is nice at this time of year

"Smell A"? It hurts when I breathe, but that's normal, right?
