Just call and explain. You will either have to pay or they will just reschedule it. It's not like you skipped bail on a murder charge.
Yeah now that its not the middle of the night and I've stopped panicking, I figured that would be the case. I called them and of course you can do nothing but listen to recordings over the telephone. I have to physically go down there to figure out whats next (this is the part that made me nervous).

Dont worry, more than likely if it's for speeding 30+ over the posted speed limit you will be adjudicated guilty and have 30-90 days to pay whatever fine the judge imposed.

If it is a criminal charge like reckless driving....a warrant for FTA (Failure To Appear) will be issued. So get down there asap.

It was just a speeding ticket for 12 over. 77 in a 65. Any chance of me still being able to take defensive driving or deferred adjudication?

Yes, you should be able to. But, you have to complete the class before you pay the citation. That will keep the points(3) from being applied to your license.

Contact your insurance company....some companies are increasing rates now simply for the fact you got a citation now on your record, regardless of points.

If it's just a 12 over ticket, you can call the court and they will probly tell you since you didn't show, you were adjudicated guilty and the judge is giving you X amount to pay in X amount of days.

You better hope "The Dog" isn't filming in Texas.

Yeah I have to drive to the courthouse to get any answers. They offer no phone service, just automated messages.

Yeah they are. But at least he would give a cigarette and a motivation speech after he busts your ***.

But seriously, I'm sure you'll be fine. Your scenario is probably a common mishap. Police are probably more concerned with finding all the scum bags out there that have done much worse.

Just an update. The panic was a bit overkill. I went to the courthouse and settled up today. No penalties and still able to take defensive driving. All is good! Thanks.

Its' possible to get out of points on your license. I did it once. I wrote to the judge explaining that points on my license may cause loose of work in the future. I still had to pay, but didn't receive any points. I did it all within the time frame tho.
