Awol

I found out today that someone I used to work with who joined the military went on leave & did not go back. I guess she has just completed her boot camp. She always seemed like a sensible girl, what gonna happen to her? Anyone any ideas?

fun time in the brig, I was a Marine for about 9 years a long time ago and we had plenty go UA or AWOL, they will find you and send you to the brig for a nice little stint, then they may try to kick your sorry a$$ out, bust you down to lowest rank possible and take as much pay from you as they are allowed. I have no compassion for the little ***** birds, they get what they deserve.

In a time of war it's a big no no, she had better show up soon or prison and soap will be her friends...

My guess is she would have been better off quitting/finding a way out before finishing boot camp.

If she's LUCKY, they may accomodate her and let her out with an 'other than honorable' discharge.

If she's unlucky, it could be 5 years in the brig/Leavenworth followed by a dishonorable.

Most likely, it will be somewhere in the middle.

I don't know how long ago this ahpppened, but I am in the Army right now. From what I uderstand about the regulations, said person has 30 days to return back to the station they left before any real punishment is pursued. The most she will get is an Article 15 which takes half your paycheck for 2 months, takes away any rank she might have, and gets put on 45 days extra duty. After 30 days things get more serious. In that time period, a person can be persecuted under UCMJ and most likely given a dishonerable discharge (which is really bad) and possibly jail time in lebenworth. If i were you, try your hardest to get ahold of your freind and try to convince her to go beck ASAP

All I know is that a friend of hers was driving her car & for some reason the car got impounded. I guess when she went to pick it up she was arrested, I don't know how long she had been "absent' for. I will have to try & find out from a 3rd party.

I remember a guy in my platoon snuck over to 4th Battalion when I was at the University of Parris Island to "hook up with a really hot recuit"...

There's two things wrong with that...

1., WM's are rarely, if ever "really hot"...
2., his dumbass got caught... didn't even make it past their firewatch!

Needless to say he got to play 'Make it Rain' for quite awhile and recycled. We had ~2 weeks to go before graduation, and were the last company before the Crucible started.
