1978 Ford F250 Highboy Restoration

So a buddy of mine bought a 1978 Ford F250 off his girlfriend's grandfather in Wisconsin last year after wrecking his 2001 Jeep Cherokee. The truck originally had a 300 CI I6, and was used as a farm truck all it's life (until now). It had 87,000 ORIGINAL miles on it, and her grandfather was the original owner, drove it off the lot in 1978.

Back in summer of last year, he decided to fully restore the truck to it's former glory. This was a free time thing, but his flexible ROTC and signing bonus helped greatly. Below is a link to the build thread he has going on Lonestar Jeep Club.

After having it finished for not even 2 full days, a guy at the local O'Reilly's offered him $25,000 on the spot for the truck. Needless to say, that made him love it even more! (He figures he has roughly $17-18K in it right now).

The truck is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I had the chance to test my skills with my first photoshoot. Some of them turned out pretty well for the lighting (cloud) conditions we had to work with. I plan on taking some more next week, hopefully.

On to the pictures!

More pics tomorrow when my Flickr upload limit resets. :o

Thanks fellas. This is his pride and joy.

Will, he lives off Crowley-Cleburne Rd on the north side of Crowley, so you may see the truck around.

Now he gets to focus on his "Jorp", which is his 1990 Jeep YJ with an entire Ford F250 drivetrain and susp/axles.

Those HDR pics are the only ones I have uploaded right now. I will get the rest up tomorrow.

Beautiful truck! But the true "highboys" were not produced past 1977.5.

That's one things I could never truly figure out, was what made the truck a highboy. You wouldn't happen to know, would you?

Here are more pics of the truck. These are the better of the 20 I picked to edit for him.

Great looking truck. I didn't read the 38 page resto, did he stick with the 300 6?
