It bothers me that nothing was made of this yet the CEO/founder of the company whose products were being made is treated like a hero and mourned by the globe. Apple is a bad company, they infringe on other companies patent rights with nearly every product release yet they have the most aggressive patent lawyers in the tech industry. As stated above the working conditions in their factories are deplorable. As CEO of apple Jobs has to bear some of this responsibility. I've heard he was a very pleasant person to be around and I really do not wish him any harm or ill will.
Because no other major company has horrible working conditions over seas? you know like nike.

I agree with you for the most part. Steve was a great guy but Apple sucks as a company. The factories with bad working conditions are Foxconn though not Apple. They make products for many companies not just Apple. They are practically a city themselves not just a factory. They are huge.

Exactly! Chances are what ever computer he was posting from has parts manufactured at Foxconn. Hell, the servers that host this site are probably made there as well.

Ok, without looking it up who is the CEO of Nike? Would it be major news if he died? Does he make it known that he was involved with the details of product design? Would there be the mass outpouring of grief? Would there be a thread on here?

I think it is safe to say the answer is no to all of the above. If he knew about the issues he should have done something about them. Otherwise what is the difference between him and any other "greedy" CEO? I just questioned the double standard.

Foxconn is what makes products for Apple. Plus, no one said people had to work there. Don't get your panties in a bunch, this is why America is going to ****. People worry about other things but their own selves, which America likes to be in everyones business.

Ummm... you do realize Foxconn is in China and if the worker could just quit they would. Hopefully you understand it is easier to quit a job than jump out of a window to you death. There are guards there to keep the worker in not keep people out. And yes, I do consider where a product comes from. Even if the CEO is not socially responsible I do try to be. So much so that I will search out products not made in China to support companies that treat people better or not give money to a communist regime.

Otherwise I could say something smart like, America is going down the pipes because people can not so much as write a proper English sentence...

Or I could say America is going to feces because people only care about the name and price tag not where it was made...

...take your pick.

That's what I was trying to get at. He doesn't like Apple due to how China treats people, yet almost everything in the US is made from China.

I will make an attempt to avoid things made in China. I certainly will not celebrate someone who sent jobs to China and profited from the exploitation of the people.

You will be hard pressed to fine any computer that doesn't have chinese made parts in it. All of the Samsung, HTC, LG, etc are all built by the same component makers that make Apple products.

The electronics boards in your F150 are made my similar companies. Your Nike shoes are built in sweat shops over seas..

But what is worse is, if something is manufactured in America, most likely the company has hired a bunch of illegal immigrants to build the products which is equally disgusting.

I understand it sucks, but what can you do? I'll stick with buying cool things, why the hell should I care where it was built?

The problem has been solved: "Workers were also forced to sign a legally binding document guaranteeing that they would not kill themselves.[28]"(from Wikipedia)
