Creatine

Anyone here take creatine? Ive been taking cytogainer lean mass builder for about 4 months now and ive gained some good weight/muscle, but im wanting more. I have some buddies who take it and they have gotten big. Forums all recommend Green Mag creatine. Id like to gain about 10-15 more lbs before boot camp in 5 months. My endurance is tip top and im in excellent shape right now, but I wanna bulk up.

If you're going to take creatine find a pure creatine monohydrate and drink lots and lots of water.

Yeah green mag is what ive been recommended. But what ive been reading is creatine monohydrate is creatine monohydrate. No reason to spend twice as much for the same product from a different company. Agree?

Creatine will help with recovery and size. You'll probably put on like 5 pounds within the first few weeks with a regular schedule.
And I agree, monohydrate is monohydrate. All the added stuff is marketing for the most part. If you feel the need to buy the more expensive creatine, look for micronized or kre-alkalyn. Micronized is supposedly better for absorption and reducing bloating. Kre-alkalyn is absorbed faster because it skips the step of conversion into creatinine, which is a waste product.
Good luck with bulking up man.

What I meant is avoid the flavored creatine products, the pre workout/creatine supplements. They are just filled with additives, colors and sugars. Hence the term "pure".

**Disclaimer: This is a blanket statement, there may be some products that I listed that are ok**

I'd have to look at the label but the best one I ever used tasted like baking soda, absolutely awful but effective for what it was.

Haha funny you mention the taste of baking soda because that's basically what the creatine I used to take tasted like when you didn't mix it with juice or protein.

Been using creatine for years. If you're having trouble putting on more mass, just think more protein, protein, protein. Combined with pushing yourself just a little bit harder will get you there.

And tons and tons and tons of water. It's easy to get kidney stones while taking creatine if your not properly hydrated.

Remember tho if you add on another 10-15 pouinds of muscles things like running and jumping/landing will start to hurt a lot more after a while. I have never been to boot camp but so I don't know if that would apply but just keep it in mind.

Off topic: Mig, I see your in So Cal now. Where you living? Stationed at the navy base I take it?

I wouldn't worry about packing on to much weight for boot. Start doing push ups, not just a bunch of them but a bunch of them with good form. I'd ask about the Navy's physical training program and see what it entails and train for that, along with the height/weight standards.

I was taking MRI WAR a few months ago, creatine blend with waxy maize in it. The smell and taste to an extent reminded me of a box of crayons. I had to stop taking it because it was messing with my kidneys, after I'd **** I'd have to sit down because they hurt so bad. More than likely because I couldn't keep myself hydrated enough because of the heat over here at the time and the creatine.

Just giving you a heads up, you're going to lose all that weight that you want to gain. I went from 175 to 155lbs, my brother went from 140 to 127lbs, and from what my aunt and uncle told me, my cousin lost so much weight he looked like skin and bone.

Basic isn't hard, not even close. I wouldn't even try and work out for it, just enjoy the civilian life while you can. Party and beat guts!

do whey protein and creatine...try not to mix too much though as they counteract each other a little. I do more protein, concentrate on 6-8 reps and reaching failure on 8 reps; and I mean failure.

Do a 6 on 4-6 off approach with Creatine (6 weeks on, then 4-6 weeks off) It't not good for your body to be on it all the time. Eat a lot of clean protein and carbs. You should be taking in around 2800-3500 calories a day if you are trying to bulk up.

Best advice here. You're going to loose most of that mass in bootcamp, it's unavoidable. Plus 10-15 pounds of muscle is not going to happen in 5 months unless you take "real" supplements, or you're just starting to lift weights. But still, like said, it's all going to fall off. You're about to be ruled for the next year or so. With very little freedom. Live these last few months awesome. Once you get in A school, you'll usually have time to put on mass if you'd like.

Like also mentioned here, all that extra weight is going to make running, or anything cardiovascular much harder. Since bootcamp is mostly running and body weight movements, you'll be much more efficient going as you are now, instead of a rapid 10 pounds heavier.

To add onto losing all that weight from bootcamp, once you get time to start going to the gym, that'll probably be the best way to gain mass due to losing all the fat they take off you, it'll be easier for you to get yoked. I wish the regular Army did PT like basic training, but once you're out of basic training, the real military does PT to just sustain what you got and it barely sustains, lol.

But when it's time for you to work out, don't take any supplements until you get a good routine, otherwise it's pointless. You want a good foundation before you even try supplements. I'd just suggest doing whey protein when you wake up, after you work out, and sleep.

Yo Mig,

You tried GreenMag yet? I oreder some and I think its alright. I get random very very minor headaches during the day tho. Its never happened to me before so I think it might be the GreenMag. I have 8 more days of my cycle before I start my off cycle so I will have to see if thats the problem when I stop.
