Any poets/writers among us?

As a long time admirer of the great classic artists and authors in literature, I've dabbled in the art a bit. Over the years and through the changing seasons of my life, I've found that being able to transform thoughts and feelings into words has been a source of solace more times than I can count.

So how about it? Any of you guys write? If so, post up some of your work. I'll start:

Sing! O strings, and trumpets play
Baroqueian chords and waltz’s sway.
O mournful keys march in the night
Where ghouls abound in memories’ plight.

The minor notes croon still for her!
Sad, somber decrescendos stir
My rock-strewn soul and stony heart
Yet halt just as remembrance starts.

Bring back my Love O timpani!
Resound thy thump…thy ancient beat.
Across the gulf of darkness fly
To where my sad Love’s sorrow lies.

Sweep the strings O rosined bow!
With sorrows keen thy threads bestow
A tune too cruel…but still I take
It in my bones ‘til I awake.

What madness here do I mistake
For healing melodies to take
My soul from pain? I close my eyes
And breathe my Lost Love’s Lullaby.

Be still! I think I hear her voice!
‘Tis her! Now harp, now bells, rejoice!
Sweet harmony is her voice with mine!
We speak in tune and perfect Time.

Yet just as swiftly as it came
Her voice erodes and fades away.
When shall I thy sweet voice keep?
She sighs, “In song, Love, as you sleep.”

Roses are red, violets are blue
I like my Ford, but I love you

Yeah that was taken from Ford's Facebook. I have no creativity when it comes to poetry.

Annie had Og’s full attention. He hung on to every word she uttered. Annie started to glance downward and a stern look came over her face.

“I remember that there were glass windows about the center level of the inner room we were all in. The clearest glass I’ve ever seen. There were humans there, all around… gawking, scores of them. Behind the glass, I mean. All of a sudden, there was a lot of activity. Confusion, dismay. Something… something happened…”

“What, what was it?” Og asked.

“Something came over me… it was controlling my movements, my functions. I couldn’t think, only react. We had to get out of that room. We couldn’t get through… I couldn’t get through… the glass… It was the clearest reflection I’ve ever seen. Like looking into a mirror…”

Annie peered into nothingness. Og knew not to speak. He gave her time to gather her thoughts. Og has never heard of such things from his friend. He dared not to disturb her. Finally, she continued.

“…then I saw my hands… extended before me. I broke the glass. It was so thick… My reflection was gone. It got so loud around me. Screaming and yelling… things breaking…” Annie rested her back against the pod and took a breath. “That’s all I can remember.”

“Then, you were here?” Og asked.

“Yes. Just like you, I awoke in the maintenance bay.”

A paintbrush stroke
Can not replace a gentle stroke to your face.
A bright splash of paint
Can not replace your face as we splash in the water.

A story
Can not capture the raw energy of a night spent in Clarksdale.
A poem
Can not remind us of a quiet beach cove that, as yet, has not been.

But a simple smell of you, a taste of your hair
Can make me remember why I fell in love with you.

I had about 50 poems that were sent to poetry.com before they shut down, and are nothing more than a memory. Ah, such is life....

The Forever People

You watch silently as cities rise and fall,

Countries, planets, you have seen them all.

Still you ponder, even wonder, what it is that makes life go on.

You come descended from a dead race,

Serving as watchers to understand your place

In the Great Scheme of things.

Looking down upon us all, do you understand the significance

Of Nightfall? We go outside underneath the stars…

Young boys and girls inside parked cars; professors watching silent space…

Looking upwards towards your face, but all alone it seems you are,

Because you are so ever far away from those who seek to find you.

Will you be content to watch forever

Or will your race become so clever they will come to overthrow

Our precious balance within the universe? Look at us and marvel, dead one…

We alone stand speaking testament to the Scheme’s greatest aspirations.

Be content to watch and learn or we will find you;

Then you will burn.

HPL

And my favorite of all my works

Intrigue

In the crash of waves
Her heartbeat quickens;
Pulse skips a beat.

Looking into her eyes,
A hint of something
Beautiful-a dandelion
In its first blossoming.

Holding her body is exquisite;
The tighter you grasp her,
The more powerful she feels.

The brilliant dandelion explodes--
Red, yellow, and subtle, quieter greens.
A rush of power. Pulsating Orange...deepening, then releasing
Ending with somber tones Of golden amber.

Heath

DSG and Og....NICE work, guys! Very well written indeed!

DSG: The second one you posted is my favorite. The third employs great use of symbolism. All of the poems you posted are very nice reads, and I appreciate you sharing!

Og: To me, the work you posted evokes a feeling of a dream...the kind of dream where you KNOW you're dreaming but you still question yourself because it's so real. Very nicely done!

Let's see some more, guys!

Another one of mine...

The Harlot Hope

Infernal beings from raging dreams commence their sweet revenge
As tempered grace from entranced faces stumbles t’ward its end.
Crippling fear has paralyzed….The moonlight’s prelude groans
And I am left to dream of things that haunt me when you’re gone.

A Raging Dream: A virgin screamed, and bleeding tempered grace,
Begat a shattered existence. Her boiling blood embraced
Fawning parasitic fiends who nursed upon her soul.
They drank her essence, devoured her mind, and left the body cold.

Oft spoken word that echoes as a choral cry, begets confusion all alone
Presiding over dancing daemons and demands the heart needs to atone
Within regrets, a quenching thirst to understand lest all thought crushed
She dreads her heart shall beat alone yet cannot bleed enough.

Distance feeds the primal cries...their chanting haunts the void
Within the pit, the incense burns, its sweet savours annoy
Fresh-pierced skin…the tepid blood drawn from innocent veins.
He speaks beyond the dawn of time and quakes in ancient pain.

And making an encore performance...straight outta 'retirement'....another never-before-seen, absolute masterpiece from MGDfan!

Redneck Engine Blues
--------------------

Can you not hear it?
Oh, how it croons!
Over thar, yonder,
By that Ukie buffoon.

Forsooth, a truck!
A Half-ton in blue!
Ford, it appears,
But what racket ensues!

Oil's a religion
A Phaser's best friend.
VCT trouble?
Alas, it begins.

Idles no more,
Power's bereft.
Earplugs required,
Now Praying for theft.

A 'Snap' rips the night,
Fine cussing thunders.
All eight now sheared,
Cletus has blundered.

Hank, swift arrives,
Long gun in tow.
Empties a Mag,
Engine dies slow.

Such sorrow, this be!
A Wards Engine, Aye.
Updated by twits,
T'wards Infamy now flies.

Another gem from MGDfan! I was blowin' snot and tears all over the place while reading this one!

Redneck Forum Blues
==============

Mah truck jes ain't right,
An' money's kinda tight.
Mah boy sez, "Paw, lookie here"!
On his 'puter F150Forum appears.

Ah sez "shoot, ah never knew"!
"Yer tellin' me fer true"?
Boy sez "Yep, that site be best"!
"Fix y'all up, ain't no jest".

Well, Hell Fahr ah's Stoked!
Lord knows we's kinda broke.
Ah signs up, gots mah 'druthers,
An' meet the other truckers.

Wuz fine fer a while.
Gettin' hep, Country-style.
Then ah started to wunder,
Don't dem boys ever blunder?

So, ah asked 'em, "how come,
Y'all knows everthang, then some"?
To this ah got back,
"Yo Jethro, y'all on Crack"?

They proceeded to 'splain,
From F150Online they came.
The Smart ones, they said,
Landed right here, instead.

So ah asked 'bout WASHOOBI's.
Y'know, just like a N00bie.
To that, they replied,
"No such thang boy, nice try".

"Well, whut's the best Awwwl?
And oil filter, y'all"?
"FRAM"! they all canted,
"And Scamsoil, ya Clampett"!

Ah tried one more tack,
Now Suspectin' these hacks.
"Whut Muffler ya'll after"?
They Chorused: "FARTMASTER" !

Well, now ah be pissed,
Ah curled mah fists.
Reprobates! ah shot back,
For fair, that's a fact!

"How DARE ya?", they said.
"To question our Cred".
"Yer just a bumlick,
Hick on a chitstick".

Well that took the cake,
Ah pulled up my stake,
To F150Online ah ran,
An Happy, now am.

A message to y'all,
Don't go there, is all.
That collection of Gheys,
Will ruin yer day.

So best of luck,
With y'alls fine trucks.
Ol' Bubba be goin',
The beer, she be flowin'.

MGD is on a roll!! Where the heck is Bucky?

The Duel
======

In my fine lifted Steed
Master of all I survey
As boost builds, Rapture descends
Knobbies churn through clay

Come Git some! I roar
As I terrorize the town
Not a one dares challenge me
I stare them ALL down

I rip hither/yonder
Screaming through gears
Smashing through hedgerows
Laughing through tears

I screech to a halt
In amazement I stare
A truck tall as mine!
Appears in thin air

I grit my teeth
A savage grin gleams
I'll sear his paint off
With my PnP beams

I turn up the juice
Toggles I hit
Six HID's blaze
I get 'em ALL lit

I'm euphoric, I'm pumped
I chuckle in glee
I'll roast his temerity
Oh, how he'll flee!

I'm suddenly struck
By photons so vast
My shades begin steaming
I shat out my ***

My windshield implodes
The meats all melt down
Hood is a river
Of metal on ground

That truck, I now know
Is not just a poser
He's running Retrofits
I'm SUCH a loser

And the MGDfan hits just keep coming!

I have no clue how he comes up with this stuff!

Party at the Farm
===========

Dew glistens on glass
As I admire the dawn
I'm abruptly aware
I parked on the lawn

As I look further
The carnage revealed
Beer cans like daisies
Strewn over the field

I examine the wheels
The mud washed away
By Shane as he pissed
On them yesterday

I peer in the bed
Discover I do
That old bum Buford
Asleep in his poo

I look underneath
And To my dismay
Another drunk reveler
passed out in the clay

I open the door
Apprehension in check
Out falls dumb Earl
Lights-out on deck

I check the backseat
And there snores Duke
Clutching his pekker
Covered in puke

I crack the hood
Growing horror abounds
The blower is missing
My throat makes no sound

I whirl in the mist
Eyes crazy and wide
Who'd do such a thing
To my pride and my ride

Then I remember
I parked in the shed
This ain't my truck
It's my bro Ned's

I don't know how MGDfan does it!

The Apprentice
==========

What mystery lies
Beneath yon valve cover

The magic within
Mine to discover

Toiling for years
Struggling with lessons

At last to behold
Glorious compression

The toolbox beckons
Rejoice in the heft

Chrome steel like jewelry
The touch must be deft

To deflower this engine
A dream come true

A plethora of parts
One must unscrew

To caress, to enhance
A creation like this

The gift of a lifetime
One cannot resist

Speed, power, beauty
In my mind's eye

I soar to new heights
This conveyance will fly

My cherished daydreaming
Is shattered to dust

The Boss screams, Yo Bubba!
Sweep the floor ya dumb Cuss!
