Driving My First Titan

Driving My First Titan
One of the cool things about my job is that I get the opportunity to travel around the country and try out lots of different vehicles as rental cars.
This week I am in the San Jose area and at the National "Emerald Aisle" this morning I had a choice between a '12 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab, a '13 Nissan Titan crew cab, a '13 Ford Focus, and a varied mixture of mid-size import and domestic sedans. I really wanted to try the Focus since I haven't driven one yet, but I may need to take a material sample from a job I'm looking at tomorrow morning and I don't think a 4' x 8' sheet of OSB would fit in a Focus.....
So the Titan got the nod -- the first time I've driven Nissan's full-size offering. One thing I will say about this rig is that the thing goes like an absolute "raped ape" -- the thing makes my '05 F-150 feel like it's standing still off the line! But bed shake? OH MY LORD!!!! Driving on paved city streets I find myself unable to take my eyes off the driver's side mirror as I watch the back side of this vehicle wiggle as if it's trying to free itself from the rest of the truck.....

My Supervisor (and good friend of over 30 years) has a '07 Titan. I've never driven it, but have been a passenger many times.... I don't really care for it.
For as big as it is on the outside, it's pretty cramped on the inside with uncomfortable seats.
Cheap interior but I do like the center console better than the one in my '00 F150.
It does have more power and is thirstier than my '00 F150 but the Nissan has a 5.7 vs. my 4.6... so yeah.
The Nissan rides nice until you get into some rough pavement then it feels like it's going to shake apart.
Lastly, my F150 is an extend cab with the suicide doors... when I shut them they feel solid. My buddys Nissan is also an extend cab... and when you shut the doors, they bounce and don't seem even safely latched. Hard to explain, but it just seems like it's a poor set up that would be dangerous in an accident... kind of gives me the feeling the doors would fly open even in a low speed collision.
