I heard this sucker showed a 2.2 on the richter scale! But thank God they got the very-nearby elementary school and retirement home evacuated. They've got at least 6 firefighters either pronounced dead or unaccounted for. Prayers go out

Thats correct Coy. I am just south of Arlington and it got my attention greatly. Even heard the loud rumble. Shook my house harder than any thunder cloud I have ever experienced.

Disastrous, so many may have lost their lives, so many hurt.
Earlier Thursday morning West EMS Director Dr. George Smith said six firefighters and two paramedics were confirmed dead and that seven nursing home residents were missing after the blast.

He estimated Wednesday night that as many as 60 or 70 people may have died in the blast at West Fertilizer.

Smith said early Thursday morning he expects more bodies will be found during the search of damaged and destroyed homes.

He said a city official was also missing.

One police officer who was reported missing was located Thursday morning at Waco hospital where he was being treated for several injuries.

There were reports from West Thursday morning that some locations were being looted, but a police officer speaking from the scene said he could not confirm any arrests.

He said the blast caused “a tremendous amount of injuries,” and estimated the number hurt at more than 100.
Sad. Many Prayers sent.

My thoughts go out to the people effected by this tragic event. I feel like I just said something like this earlier.

It's been a bad week. Things have got to look better next week.

A fertilizer plant up in Waxahachie blew last year and I drove by it on 287 a few minutes after it happened. When I went by on the highway I could feel the heat from the fire through my side glass.....

Jeez, if I was a fertilizer plant worker, I'd look for a new job!

Not the first time there was a disaster in Texas like this, too.

In 1947 a ship carrying 2,300 tons of Ammonium Nitrate exploded in the Port of Texas City killing 281 peoples and hurling a 2 ton ship anchor 1.5 miles away from the explosion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Disaster
The ship's main anchor, (5 tons) was hurled 1/2 mile from the site.
