I'm 50 years young got my license at 16 1/2. With my job that is all about driving 8-16 hours a day, I'd have to say a whole lot of miles.

I've seen that article in the past. That is an amazing accomplishment of both man & machine indeed.

I'm 32 and have had my license since I was 18. However, besides being a touring musician for 15 years, I also always ended up being the driver, too. I never trusted anyone but myself to drive the 15 passenger vans towing a 16 foot trailer.

I've done probably 30 full US tours in my time. Each is around 15-20k miles being on the road for 1-2 months at a time. When the drivers would get too drunk in other coutries, I ended up having to drive in Japan and once a 12 hour drive from somewhere in France, through Belgium to Frankfurt Germany.

On top of that, I was usually located in Vermont and would have to constantly travel between tours for practice in south jersey.

These days, I usually drive to Florida and back 2-3 times a year.

Between all of that and the miles I've put on my personal vehicles, I'm probably around 800k to a million.

Oh yeah, and my grown up, new settled down lifestyle includes a driving job. Strange.

That's a good amount of driving...care to mention what band or bands you were driving for? A lot of us are music buffs too.

The bands drove for, I also played drums for. And there were many. Mostly smaller to mid sized bands playing 500 cap venues. We toured alongside many decently known bands, though. Those tours were obviously in bigger venues.

I average 50-60k miles a year all on personal vehicles for work. Doing this job for 11 years now plus the miles before that. Especially considering I had my license by 10am morning of my 16th birthday.

My days of driving 60 to 80K miles a year are long gone...10 to 12K miles is a lot for me now.
