are lightning owners better then the rest of us?
I don't want to start a fight or anything but I've been stewing on this, and lately I've seen where it seems that the lightning owners of the board are superior (or different/unique) to the other members of the board, like they won't mention issues to the appropriate groups even if they are not lightning-specific, but rather post it to the lightning forum because only their "click" would be able to answer it appropriately. That'd be like if there was a forum for XLT's only, would the answers still aply to Lariat owners? Most often, yes.
Again, not trying to draw fire, I just like to see threads put in appropriate forums.

Yes we are better.
Just kidding around. I think it is just laziness with me. I tend to just not feel like posting things more then once and I typically browse all the forums anyway so I guess In my head I think everybody browses the Lightning forum.
For the majority of the lightning owners I think that they are all pretty much trying to tune their trucks to the peak of what they can do and no matter what the problem or issue is they post it their because most of them seem to know what they are talking about and tend to give very quick answers. I don't think it has anything to do with them feeling or me feeling superior because I don't it is just the ease of posting and getting the answer that you want.
Oh yeah my daddy is bigger than your daddy too. OOpps sorry there goes that superiority complex again. :0)
Just for the record I rarely have much to offer but I will try to post in both the lighting and appropriate forums in the future.

perhaps I should repoint out my statement logical... my problem is not witht he lightning forum or the people that only post to it, my problem is about the general f-150 posts that I see in there all the time. I know the quickest solution is to just not read that forum, but I think that the board is here to help out everyone and to be helped by everyone, and I see so many general f-150 questions in there that could really be to the benefit of everyone, rather then just lightning owners.
Some people just tend to get "comfortable" in their own groups and other people could be missing out on lots of valuable information because of it.

It's a combination of things:
laziness - some don't feel like going to another forum to post
it's a lightning - some feel only other L owners could answer
a group - it's Lightning, you feel connected or like your in a click
You add all three up and you have alot of owners who only post in the Lightning section, and then newbies come in and they see that all the other Lightning owners only post there so they follow the example.

I haven't even looked at the Lightning forum in at least 6 months and I don't think I'll be looking in there in the near future either.
That forum is a mess. No two ways about it. There's no order and threads scroll off the first page too darned fast.
Anyway, the non-Lightning guys have a lot of good information for the rest of us and I'm quite satisfied with the way things are. A few of the Lightning guys will post in non-Lightning boards and for the most part, they've been helpful.
I say we just let them alone and not worry about them. They can remain in their clique, if there really is one.
Besides, I know my 4x4 SC is better and can beat any Lightning up the face of a sand dune.

I agree with dennis, those forums are a mess and I haven't read them for ages. Three pages of threads per day, and only half of them have to do with an actual Lightning Truck.
They post general topics over there and wonder why the rest of us don't read and respond over there instead of here in "General"
Well, in case an L owner gets lost and reads this, I'll tell you why we plain ole "for some reason or another chose not to own a lightning" Ford owners post here in "General"
1) It is called "General discussion" implying that (almost) anything not specific to our Trucks is OK here. Screw, new F150', Old F150', Ranger, and Harley owners all manage to find their way here daily.
2) When a non Lightning owner posts in the Lightning section with a sig longer than five lines, they get ripped to shreads with a "How dare you modify your 'only an F150' with more than a K&N when you know it won't do any good cuz it still isn't a lightning?" attitude, even though the Lightning owners don't know how to size and post an image smaller than 1024x768 and 1 MB file size in their sigs.
3) They think they have Lightning computers too (see above) and if their sig makes you scroll left to right on your tiny 17" monitor, too bad.
4) If a plain ole "for some reason or another chose not to own a lightning" Ford owner posts a picture of their truck and it has anything on it that might be construed as a Lightning exclusive, they will be met with "You faker, now a chevy will beat you and he will tell everyone that he beat a Lightning" attitude.
5) If a F150 owner posts in the Lightning section without a sig larger than five lines or a picture of his Truck, and they are feeling rather benevelent, they will simply ignore him. Even if he gushes on ad nuaseum about how wonderful the Lightnings are.
6) When they need personal advice, they have to get another Lightning owners perspective, because the problem is so much more different if you own a Lightning. "How can you possibly know anything about what I am going through if you don't own a lightning?"
In other words Expy, Exploder, Screw, new F150, Old F150, Ranger, F250, and Harley owners all drive their Trucks year round, (probably to *shudders* work) and wear cowboy or work boots, while Lightning owners only drive their Trucks on sun shiny days and wear snake skin dress shoes.
They only let their kids play with other Lightning owners kids, and if a F150 owner moves in on their street they say "There goes the neighborhood".
They do however, have their "Renegades", those that talk to plain Ford owners, but they probably have a word for them. "F150 Lightning owner" Oops, what do ya know, thats what Ford calls all of the people that own those Trucks!
Shhhhh don't tell them.
Ya know they are probably right, they're not in our league at all.

Non-L owner
Matt,
I too have had that impression. There are, on occasion, replies from L owners to non-L owners, that leave the impression that our trucks ain't $h!t. Not all L owners, most of them are very helpfull and friendly, just a couple. And really that surprises me, considering quite a few of the non-L trucks cost considerably more than a $30k L. Don't get me wrong, when I see an L at the dealership, or on the road, I turn green with envy. But come on guys, you have to learn to crawl before you walk.

I'm just a plain ole, working guy that drives a plain ole F-150, SC, V6. The L owners paid big bucks for their rigs and did it for performance or show - and that's fine. I wish I could do it. I like this site for the real information I need on maintenance and repair, but it's good to read about all those mods, run times, etc. too.
This web site is the best I've found for everything about Ford trucks. And, when it comes down to it we are all just truck drivers anyway.
We're all in this together - Can't we all just get along?
