PETA strikes again

I'm not sure where this was gotten from. I'm reposting it from another board. The original poster is Prox.

PETA Attempt to mess up hunters - backfires
PETA Fails in Attempt to Thwart Hunters Assoc. Press (Columbus, OH)

If you are familiar with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), then you are aware of the fact they will do almost anything to protect animals. This year's efforts to save Ohio's deer from the annual statewide gun season has backfired.

For safety's sake, hunters in Ohio are required by law to display at least 400 square inches of hunter's blaze orange on their person when in the woods. Capitalizing on the fact that hunters do not usually shoot orange, PETA recently bulk purchased blaze orange vests and have been affixing them to live-trapped deer in Youngstown suburbs. According to PETA spokesperson Katie Reese, a total of 405 vests were successfully put into circulation prior to this week, with additional specimens still being caught and vested.

Youngtown entrepreneur Guy Lockey, of Guy's Outdoors has spit in the face of PETA by offering rewards for the returned vests this week. Hunters who can successfully bag a vested deer can pay $5 for random and biggest animal awards. As of Tuesday, 308 of the vests had already been recorded as bagged with most of the hunters registering for Mr. Lockey's drawing.

It's so easy, you can see them coming a mile away" said one first year hunter after checking in his first spike buck.

ODNR officials are worried that the poorly thought out plan by PETA might get somebody shot instead of saving the deer. "Hunters have turned their plan upside down, we're just hoping that nobody gets hurt and are hoping that none of the vested animals get tangled in brush" said an unnamed ODNR official. "PETA has really outdone itself this time." Ohio's statewide gun season is open to shotguns only and is scheduled to close on Saturday.

Sounds to me like the time someone tried to stop "clay pigeon" hunting - thought they were an endangered species - what with everyone shooting them!

Or the time someone wanted to stop the "harvesting" of virgin vinal - if they are "virgin" - how can the vinal's reproduce?

Just goes to show you - you cant keep a good tree hugger down!

Fox News reported this story on Monday. Today they reported that the story was a hoax and they fell for it.

PETA is one of the most diabolical, evil , twisted so-called associations in existance. They will lie, cheat, and do anything to further their agenda. They will literally stop at nothing.

My wish is that they come down here and let me intruduce them to several thousand fire ants and then let's see just how animal-loving they would be.

We had a great PETA story here in so. cal .. The owner of the Ecology Pick-a-Part yards were offering a free turkey to the first 300 customers on the weekend before Thanksgiving .

They were live birds and he hired a butcher to clean the birds for you . You would have been able to pick your own bird and have it dressed out .

Well... PETA steps in and sues the owner . The owner capitulated and gave PETA 150 of the turkeys (dumbest domestic bird on the planet) . He gave the rest to all of the employees .

The judge praised the owner for his magnanimous gesture and ordered PETA to remove 150 live turkeys from his premises .

At this point I am not sure if I would want to be an avid PETA supporter . I am sure the cry went out " We need your to keep one of our animal friends out of harms way " . Would you keep a live turkey until a natural death ? I think not even half of them would .

The Moral .. Be careful what you ask for you just may get it ..literally

Absolutley one of the worst idiotic mindless moronic groups in existence. Would rather see people die than a poor little deer.

PETA or any other group that tries to tell me what to do just drives me nuts. I don't tell other people what to do or how to live, so why do they think they should control my actions? I wonder how they would like it if I tried to force them to drive a pick-up truck to Burger King?
