This is hilarious. I posted this topic quite a while
ago while doing a little job searching. It's funny
that this topic is bounced back to the top while
I'm STILL looking for the right job.

Next month I will have been at my job for SIX years. I am a soldier and I loved it, I traveled all the time, and saw everything. Untill last year they gave me a desk job, and now I never go outside, I hate it now. Some of the people that I work with make it worth coming to work (like I have a choice). Only, I was supposed to get out of the military last July, but due to "World Events" Uncle Sam kept me involuntarily until ???????? Who knows, maybe next summer I can get out and do something I love, OUTSIDE!!!!

I hear ya. I love being outside. I'd take these
kids on a field trip every day if I could.

I spent 22 years in the military and loved it the first 20. Then it got to be too political/corporate so I retired.

I ran an auto parts store for a year and initially it was OK but then customers, employees, and hours got to me so I landed a SWEEEETTTTT government call center job that I love. They'll have to remove my dead carcass before I leave this one!

When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.

I like my job, its more mental then physical. Sometimes I'd like to get more physical with some of the people who control production.

What I would love to do when my daughter is done with high school is drive a big rig cross country. God I love to drive. Last year my daughter and I drove from New Hampshire to Calif to visit my parents and had an absolute blast. I must make note here that I have driving many cross state jorneys before during my 10 years in the Navy and this last trip, driving in my 01 F150 was the best as far as ride and being comfortable.

Trip was approx. 3,500 miles one way. From New Hampshire to Calif. it took me 3 days. Coming back from Calif. to New Hampshire took me 2 days. Left from Calif. and stopped for the night in Armorlo (sp?) Texas. Left Texas and didn't stop till I arrived in New Hampshire approx. 38 hours later. A little tired, but I am telling you just as comfortable in the truck from the time I left Texas. Now before you go and say what about your daughter and not stopping more often, she was just as comfortable as I and usally just stopped for bathroom breaks and food to go.

Well, I'm not happy at mine ( I work at a car parts store) and it's due to the pay and the schedule. Right now if I want a day off it takes at least a months notice but the schedule for the nest week never gets posted till at least the end of the week. So that leaves you no way to plan ahead. My shifts are never the same week to week.
I love dealing with cars and learning more about them and love the people I work with. I can even deal with the rude, stupid people. But, when your the top store putting the most profit dollars to the bottom line yet have one of the smallest crews that are the lowest paid it sucks.
I complained about my last job but now I wish I had it back. It was alot of mentle stress and lots of BS but it was closer to the field I wanted to be in and the pay was great. I worked for GE Capital IT Solutions as a Inside Sales Rep. It was supposed to be a call center but unlike most call centers I only got about 15-35 calls a day and maybe 12 emails. That was because I dealt with all the messed up problems and crap no one else wanted to do. That didn't bother me, it gave me a challenge, and also a way to skip out on all the business everyone else had to do.
I figured out my job and life was going nowhere. So I am going for a test Thursday with Citibanks call center. From there I hope to make enough $ and have enough time to return to school. I hope to break into the IT field.

P.S. For all those in college and want to quit since they think school is a wate of time. STOP AND THINK AGAIN! I messed up big time not going to school when I had the chance. Finish your time in prision... I mean school. Sure it really does no good but for some odd reason everyone wants to see that you got that piece of paper that says you are committed person who can get results.

I used to like my job ...

but ever since the computer/telecomm business in NJ deside to yake a flush down the crapper, it sucks. Layoffs every week and noone knows who's next, raises have been cancelled for well over a year, morale is completely down. It's almost of is the higher up powers want to push the company into the grave. And I have know have 3 different peoples jobs to do

But I have a job that pays the bills , things could be oh so much worse.

What job??? I haven't seen one of those in awhile .

However I do like my job when I'm working as a Test Engineer . It involves design and development of Automated Test Equipment including development of test software. In other words I have to make testing idiot proof . There are alot of idiots out there trying very hard to show you how wrong you are. Oh well I hope to find something soon.
