Quick poll: How many of you REALLY like your jobs??
Just curious. I really am unhappy with my current
job and am thinking of a career change. Anybody
else here unhappy with their current? Has anybody
been in my position and made a change? How did it
come out?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Well now I love it! All the fulltime people in our department ahve been terminated, and they are paying us untill march. I found it a great time to try something else with more of a future. I was not enjoying my job so much anymore and was ready for a chainge.
Just start looking and get some ideas of what you would like to try. Why not, life is too short. Just make sure you have a new job before you quit the one you are at now

My title of "Zone Technician" means general hospital maintenance which includes many responsibilities. All of us are specialists in a certain field, mine being "Bed Repair" which I really enjoy. The part I hate about my job is hanging pictures, shelves, diplomas, etc. When the beds are broken, I'm happy. When regular maintenance is required, I hate my job! ennis

I graduated from the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and was a chef for 6 years. I finally got burned out, in 6 years I had 5 days off literally and was never home to see the family. So I made a change. Im now in telecom construction and love it. Not to mention the fact I just got off a 18 week PAID vacation.

I used to work on a computer help desk, a job that i loved-i worked 8pm-8am 3 days a week and when things were working fine i could sleep, play video games, watch dvd's, whatever.
That computer company is now no more though.
I'm now working at a hospital on its PACS(Picture Archiving & Communications System). Basically Xrays, CaT scans, MRI's, etc are not going to be put on film anymore, but on computers. Doctors read on high res monitors and in clinical settings can use IE5 or higher to view studies.
I like it a lot so far, been here since July.

I have been working at the same place for 19 years going on 20, I have to say, I really love my job. I get to do so many different things it’s incredible. I never get sick or bored from doing the same thing and even when a job $u@ks, its over in a relatively short period of time. I have worked on Satellites, rockets, space test equipment, and radar dishes, radar fixtures, antennas of all different types and other things I can’t even talk about. I have worked out on the ocean in the middle of winter, taken courses at NASA and have been part of some really great teams. I really love my job.

i'd have to say i'm not happy right now. used to work in shops running machines decided to get a better job, went to school, got the job, been doing it about 6 years and i'm thinking it's time for a change again. would like to try motorcycle mech. but not sure about the money. i do realize money isn't everything but you gotta make enough to stay alive too.
many times in the past i've worked lower paying jobs and actually been happier, but don't know if i could go back to that.

I love my job! I am a civil engineer and I design roads. I have been doing this job since I graduated in 1994 and have moved up through the ranks pretty quickly. I jsut made associate at one of the largest private consultants in the country, so I am top of the world right now.
I have always enjoyed drawing and math and that is what I do all day. I am beginning to do a little more project management stuff (more paperwork( but I still do all of the roadway design and coordination between disciplines.

I love graphic design and web programming but I hate this damn job, being stuck in a pubicle and all I wish people would understand what creativity means and that having body parts fall a sleep every hour because of poor seating isn't something anyone should have to 'tough'. My friends in my domain are paid less and one has a freaking 2 story office
Oh well! At least I have bad gas today and people in hallways are paying for it lol

If you think your job is bad...
From the magazine, Business 2.0
"My boss is slower than Forrest Gump on a six pack. He has insulated himself in a corporate cocoon to the point where he is completely out of touch with our particular market. He fancies himself a visionary, but in reality he has all the vision of Ray Charles during a solar eclipse. To top it all off, his breath is similar to an open manhole during an August day. Welcome to my world."
