emissions help

emissions help

my beater failed the e test...
its the asm2525 test which is an idle then 25 mph i believe
the car 1985 ford tempo 2.3 carbed
heres the results
hc limit 153 reading 159 FAIL!!
co .86 reading .31
no 1756 limit 1337
rpm 1194

idle test
hc limit 300 reading 117
co 1.50 reading .01
rpm 849

so far i have new plugs, oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter
replaced all vacuum lines
fresh fuel
any help??

ive heard using a few gallons of methanol hydrate helps?
removing the air filter helps a little?
playing with the timing as well? which way though?

any help greatly apprecaited..

Set the timing to factory specs, and adjust the carb so your not running as rich and you should pass. Looks like your catalytic convertor might not be doing a very good job anymore either.

other then what you've already mentioned, i've heard, run a tank of premium through it, have it good and warm, and try to go on an overcast day.
not sure if these really work or not, but not very much to try them.
