Question 295/45/20 or 275/55/20

Not that I have the money for these tires cuz I'm broke , but just wondering. I am somewhat getting banged up driving my truck on the freeways, it really lets you feel every bump, dip and crater on my daily commute of 47 miles one way.

I am certain that the 20" and low-profile tires contribute to this feel as well as the lowered stanced and aggressive suspension.

I was wondering if let's say that Ford decided to put 275/55/20s would the handling on the road be a little better?

My logic is, correct me if I'm wrong, one aspect of a smooth ride is the rubber that meets the road. My 2001 XLT Screw had 265/70/16s and felt smoother on the same freeway.

I am very satisfied with the power, handling on corners, looks and overall "intimidation factor" of the beast. I wonder what I can do to make the ride more luxurious.

rhdf150 put p275/55/R20's on his truck. I think he said it threw the speedo off by about 5mph, but he had it recalibrated.

Does offer more sidewall protection for the rim and all, but i like my low profile tires better. The bigger tires make the rims look smaller IMO, but it still looks good. Alot more beefier looking. I think he said it raised the truck up about 1" and i don't want that either, so i'm sticking with my 45's. LoL. Its all just personal preferance. I'm really happy with the ride of my truck, but like i said, its just all up to waht ya want to do. Post pics of the 02 if you get bigger tires.

here's a few pics of his truck. hope this helps

I came across rhdf150's post a while back. The tires that he put on are LS tires and not GT. The LS are SR rated whereas the GTs are VR rated.

They look nice though, saw them on a Dodge Ram, the tires looked nice ok.. not the Dodge ok

I'm more concerned on a smoother ride.

295/40/20- 29.3" tall

These tires are the closest to the current aspect ratio

275/45/20 - 29.7" tall

ChesterC,
Live with the ride, Man. Sometimes you got to suffer a little to have the look

I don't know that you will see that much of a difference unless you go with a significantly higher profile tire and (God forbid!!) change to a smaller rim.
