Factory head unit 99 F150

Ok I know that alot of you are going to tell me to get an aftermarket but I like my factory unit. Anyways here's the issue, I was listening to a cd driving back to michigan last week and the head unit suddenly stops playing and a few seconds later it says CD HOT and won't play again. Later it would play again and a shorter period of time later it did it again. Now it might play two songs then it says CD ERROR and stops, after that it won't play for a while then it will play for few seconds. Any idea if this thing is fixable? If not, are there any aftermarket head units that accept the speed volume signal?

Sounds like your HU laser is dying. Not much you can do about it. There are several places like www.stereorepair.net that fix factory HUs for a fixed price. Just do a google.

I don't know if any after market unit in compatable with speed control. I'm sure there is, I've just never looked into it.

Might want to try to get another factory HU on ebay or www.radiosandmore.com

Anyone know if a radio out of an 04+ is compatible with the older trucks? I would be suprised if it was, but I have to ask anyways.

Thanks worland for replying.

I have a 2001 radio with the speed control, just sitting all lonesome. If you want it make me an offer. waymond.trimmer @ gmail .com
