I think reach(signal) has a lot to do with the length of your antenna.

Use to have one in my other truck. If you could catch the "SKIP" you can talk a good ways with a decent antenna. Think I had a Wilson 1000. I talk to several states on the occassion.

I've got a Cobra Model 29 NW LTD. It's awesome. I love it. It keeps us entertained on long drives, and it's great to have in traffic. It gets pretty good reception with my 2 ft antenna, with my old el cheapo 18" antenna I was able to get about 5 miles of range in the city. With my 2 ft Firestick, I'm not sure of the range because I have just moved the location of the antenna to the side of my new toolbox. Also, I just bought my brother a used Cobra Model 19 like BigTrucks off ebay for $15!!! Also, I've got a PA hooked up to my cb. Those things are great. I've been denied food from the Jack-in-the-box drive through because "I was trying to order with a megaphone." "But I have no megaphone, try and find it" I then proceded to do a huge burnout in the drivethu window.

Mine is now located on the side of my new toolbox, but I got the antenna and the mount from the local CB Shop. I've currently got a 3ft antenna and the stainless bed stake hole mounting kit that I'd be willing to sell for very cheap, email me if you are interested.

I have a cheapie from radio shack, $29, and it works great. I have about a 5-8 mile range with my 2fter.

I don't have one in my f150 yet, but i do have 3 cb's. My new one is a uniden PC68XL BEARCAT which is in my ranger. I have never really used it for anything, but it's nice to have just in case. And it's entertaining to listen to. I also have an older uniden PRO538w which i am going to put in the f150 soon. That has a weather channel and stuff which is nice. And third, i have a radioshack hand held cb. All work great, i have no clue what range they have. Just another goody for the rig....

one more post, any cb, weather is a 600$ cobra, or a 30$ radioshack cb, will all get the same amount of distance because cbs can only have so many watts running through them legally. of course there are ways around this as i mentiond earlier, but it all comes down to the antenna and how well you are grounded.

Cobra 29 here also; 2 ft. Firestik on front fender, gives about 11-12 mile range when out on the interstate, 5-7 miles when up in the hills shooting prairie dogs and coyotes.
