Pioneer Avh-p4000dvd 2 Din Dvd Player Install Pics

Looks good
I've been eyeing this unit since it came out. I looked hard at the Avic-D3, but like you guys I do not need navigation, I have an atlas and no my way around just fine. I am really just interested in sound quality and video capabilites(dvd, ipod video). I have the pioneer DEH-P7800MP single din in right now with the 3 sets of preouts at 5 volts and the sound quality is very clean. I guess my question is do you think i will be sacraficing any sound quality by switching to the P4000dvd, and secondly how complicated is the bypass for a novice like myself?

First of all the bypass is very easy and the sound quality is very good, the only downside is it only has 2 RCA outs and 2 RCA ins but im running 2 amps and 3 RCAS, one to my sub, and two to my four channel but it was not a problem all I did was get a piggyback adaptor to use all 4 channels and it worked really good, you can go into the eq settins and adjust all the frequencies to whatever you like and it sounds really crisp with my infinity kappas 6x8 amped

Thanks for the insight. It sounds like that's what I will have to do is piggyback my RCA's. I'm running the Alpine pdx amps. The four channel PDX 4.100 to my diamond audio 6x8's in the front and stock in the rear. I bridged the PDX 2.150 to a JL stealthbox and everything sounds decent. I would like to upgrade to some components in the front, but first thing on the list is getting a double din video HU in there. Yeah, the EQ settings on pioneer HU's are great. you can really tweek things to your liking. I wish my single din pioneer 7800MP was double din. It has the full OEL color display on it(13 million colors supposedly) and the ipod functions are great especially with the remote. Anyways, are there any instructions posted or diagrams anywhere on what the bypass entails? I've read stuff about wiring into the parking brake etc. but I really do not know how it's done. I saw where someone is selling the bypass instructions for the D3 on ebay for $10. Is the bypass for the p4000 similar? Thanks for the info!

The 9800 is by far my favorite single din radio. (7800 is the 2nd) They never should of messed with that. It was incredible.
Get a EQ then see what tweaking means..

Can I ask what part number from Radio Shack you picked up. I have the same unit and had it all installed, thinking I could just ground the green wire and everything would work, but it didn't. Any help would be really appreciated.

I don't know the part number but this is what i did.
-Get a push button from radio shack that only makes the connection when you push the button down, so it would be a momentarily connection.
-Get the wire from the head unit and connect it to one side of the terminal of the button
-Cut another wire and attach it to the other side of the terminal on the button and ground it
now when you start up your car or radio press the button down do it is momentarily grounded and it should work.

Still Confused
sotexpb: I am still confused as to how you ran that bypass switch. Could you send me an email on how you did it, and what kind of switch you got at Radio Shack? I just got this unit in my truck, and I am driving myself crazy trying to figure it out.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
