Factory 6CD Stereo

Hi
My truck came with a single cd stereo with no sub connection. I purchased a 6cd Factory stereo with sub connecton and made my own harness for sub.
Everything works great.
My question is how hot should the factory 6cd stereo get? At first I thought I wired the sub wrong even though it seems to work right, so I unpluged the sub from the back of the stereo, but it still gets hot. Hotter then the factory single cd without sub connection gets.
Is this normal?

I believe the 6 disc units are "Premium" and kick out more wattage than the single discs. More wattage means more heat. Modern electronics get hotter than people expect. Two things to check. Make sure your speakers ohm resistance matches the head unit. If you're using stock speakers then you're fine. Second, make sure you're grounded properly. If you're using the factory harness then it is.

Chances are very good that what you feel is natural. Damn, now I sound like the dad on "American Pie"....

Hey I need to get some info from you, how did you make the harness and where did you get the parts from? I have purchased a shaker 5oo and need the sub wiring to a factory sub/amp.

I'm not sure if this setup will work with a shaker. But I got my ends at www.fordparts.com that will forward you to a place called Titllis Ford or some thing like that.
Part # were
3u2z-14s411-dla Head unit
3u2z-14s411-caaa sub
Wiring goes
hu pin 3 > Sub pin 9
hu pin 1 > sub pin 7 shielded
hu pin 2 > sub pin 8 shielded
hu pin 4 > sub pin 1 shielded

pins 5 & 6 on sub hot all the time
pins 2 & 3 on sub Ground
The Pin numbers for the sub our not on wiring harness connector they are on inside of connector on amp. Very hard to see.

The Shaker 500 is the same as the audiophile, just higher wattage. Does the sub have to be seperatley powered? Or is it powered from the head unit.

Power is seperate. The remote wire hu pin 4 to sub pin 1 turns the amp on and off. Pins 5 & 6 on the amp end are full time hot. I ran mine straight off the battery with an inline fuse.
