i have a 2000 f150 4x4 and i have had this truck since it was new and i still cant find a ashtray in this truck were there certain years they didnt put ashtrays in f150s i had a 1998 f150 and its ashtray was in the cupholder . thanks

 

I think that Ford stopped using the slide-out ashtray in 1999 and replaced it with that very dorky and inconvenient cup

My 1997 F-150 has an ashtray but the 1999 Explorer does not.

It's either a can or one of these

 

my 2000 has an ashtray that fits into the left cupholder of the part of the dash that pulls out and has 2 cupholders. I'm guessing it was left out/stolen from your truck. Try going to a junkyad and getting one. It should just slide into cupholder.

 

I think the change happened with the 2000 model year. My '99 had the cup holder and ashtray unit. My '01 has only the cup holder with the ashtray insert. I miss the big ashtray. Used to keep my gas card lock in there. Now, I have to keep it in the overhead compartment.

This change probably saved Ford another $2. Eliminating the hole in the lower dash for the controller (another handy place to stash things) saved Ford another 50 cents.

I guess the only reason we're not sitting on milk crates and looking through Saran Wrap windows is because of the safety laws.

I know the speed sensitive wipers are gone. Adjustable autolamp controls are gone. Also heard the speed volume is going too. What will Ford eliminate next? The glove compartment? Maybe we'll next find our owner's manual in a plastic pouch stuck under the seat.
