Noticed a few things different about the 2003 L (pics)

Hi guys, I have been suspicious since I got the truck, but finally got a chance to look at another lightning to confirm it, but on my 2003 there is no tint at the top of the windshield? wtf? this makes it that much harder to hide a radar detector up there?

later,
chris

Thats a bit strange, wonder if all are like that now.
I looked at one at a dealer, The grab handels looked a little differant too. Also noticed the yellow bump stops at the rear.

also, here are a few other pictures:

door lock button is now black (don't like it, but not a biggie) also here you can see the brushed aluminum looking handles.

did the fog lamps always have these lines in them? or were they smooth on earlier models? I can't remember?

as you can see here, my two babies. the mustang has been relegated to storage duty lately, guarding the boxes and the lawnmower.

sorry stang.

Lookin nice though, Shame i got a 2 car garage and my lightning and stang both sit neglected outdoors. When i get my 03 she will be living indoors.

And no the old foglighs did not have look like that, soo maybe SVT fixed um??

Plush carpet is nice too, really doesn't feel cheap, just sucks they got rid of the storage compartments in the back. Guess they had to offset the costs of the resurection of the pocket in teh dash.

your fog lights look exactly like mine that got replaced under warranty, my original 02 lights had a chrome piece over the bulb. when i had them replaced, as soon as i got home i put the higher wattage silverstars bulbs in, 2 months and still no cracks.been driving with them on in the rain and cold also.I think my 02 had those lines but you didn't notice them becase of the chrome piece over bulb.

Those fogs that you have in your 03 is what the dealer replaced mine with. The thrid set that has been warrantied because of cracks. And after my trip to Fla and back, guess what? The new style cracks too. No inpact on the glass, just a crack

CRAP... I've been waiting for a post like this....

Oh well... I guess I'll get 'em replaced under warranty, and at least it'll be on record.....

Someone needs to find (or make!!) a good aftermarket set that look as good as OEM.... Preferably HID!

No Tint on the top of the windshield, that does suck.

There is a Black 03 at the dealer up the road from me, I will check it out tomorow.

What color are your bumpstops? Mine are Yellow on all four corners from the factory.

It would be cool except for the fact that radar detectors are illegal in my state

without the tint up there, the detector is REALLY visible, I might as well hang a sign on the tailgate "illegal radar detector in use!"

I don't want my $400 dollar V1 confiscated!

I just got the truck Saturday morning, and by Sunday afternoon I was already getting pulled over for the detector. granted, I haven't mounted it and hardwired it yet, so the cord was making it EVEN MORE visible hanging down to the cig lighter, but still, even without the cord this thing sticks out badly now.

chris
