Question Maguires Gold Question (already searched)

I just washed my '03 with the Maguires clear coat car wash. The stuff did a great job IMO. Polished the tips with Wenol and put on some tire shine. My question is this: when I put the Maguires Gold on, how long should I let the wax dry before I rub it off?

Not very long. Seems to me it is harder to get off the longer it sits. I usually wipe it on a panel and let it sit for about a minute and wipe it off. It looks real good after you are done though. After you get the gold class on once. Start using liquid glass. That stuff is great.

Yep, the bottle says to coat the whole car, then remove, but it gets to be a bit of a pain after sitting too long. Best to do a section at a time, apply then remove with a clean towel after it dries to a light haze.

<<<<<<when I put the Maguires Gold on, how long should I let the wax dry before I rub it off?>>>>>>

I also use Maguires Gold paste Wax.........Takes me about 1/2hr to wax my truck

I apply thin (thin is key word) coat of wax and go around truck twice. (reapplying where needed on the second pass) Depending on weather conditions, I usually waite no more than 15 mins before I buff it off w/ a couple microfiber towels....

Waxing w/Maguires is toooooooooooo easy

if you want easy, go with s100. Availible at 633 harley shops around the country.

P.S. If you want reviews for any waxes/sealents, go to www.autopia.org TONS of info over there.

Use Cherry Wet Wax from Coatsproducts.com!!! Stop right now and order it. I guarantee you will never use anything else. It is by far the easiest to apply and leaves an incredible shine. Zaino is another good one, but more difficult to use. If you haven't done so already, give your truck a wash with Dawn and then claybay the truck. Then, use the wax. Even on a brand new truck you wouldn't believe how much rail dust gets in the paint. The cllay bar removes all fallout.

Have fun. Todd

I just bought the McGuires three step system and their car wash soap the day I picked up the L'. Haven't used any of it yet but the soap since it's so cold here and no heat yet in the monster garage. I've read and heard no bad of McGuires products.

I always apply wax to a panel at a time then buff with a soft cotton cloth once it dries to a haze. Since the hood is such a large panel, I apply to only half at a time. That way I can compare the difference in gloss at mid point.

I agree that S100 makes good stuff. I use their products on my scooters with great results. Pure carnuba is the way to go!

I've been in the recon and refinish gig for well over 20 years and have used most every product known. Always preferred carnuba wax for the finishing touch. My toys live indoors so the wax lasts for months on end. Your #1 enemy is the sun when it comes to surface degradation!

Stay away from anything with silicone in it! The stuff is useless other than keeping your weatherstrip from freezing to the door jams in the winter.
