I guess we could always open this up to "fairly cheap" mods as well....like replace the fuel filter regularly (I do with every fresh tank of fuel....kidding). Any other cheap or cost-effective mods??

You don't THINK it will work? Did you try it? I along with alot of other guys have aftermarket filters. More cool air makes more power, and lower ET's, I've tried it and it WORKS, and it's FREE. My truck only takes in about 10% of its air from the fender, maybe you should invest in an aftermarket filter, then you too could test this little FREE trick for yourself, John H.

You didn't read his post. He wanted free mods, free mods does not include buying an aftemarket filter. The stock air box draws 100% of the air through the fender. And lastly take a look at my signature, I already have my air taken care of.

Exclamation Wrong Again!!!

I read his post COMPLETELY, and on top of already having an aftermarket fliter, removing the drivers side headlight to pull in more cool air is still a FREE mod. On a cool summer night, this has netted a one tenth reduction in ET on my truck and a friends truck (SouthJersey Fred). Losing a race by a tenth looks REALLY STUPID!!!

Losing by a great distance looks even dumber if you ask me. What looks worse, racing someone and getting blown away like you had no chance whatsoever or losing by a bumper? Mike

LOL Spank. Johnny AC, the original question was what are some FREE mods meaning what can he do to his truck without spending a penny. What you are saying to do with the headlight would help, yes, IF you buy an aftermarket filter kit first. This guy asked what can he do for free. Yes you can take the headlight out, but with the stock airbox and stock airbox location, you arent going to gain anything by taking out the headlight. Not argueing, just telling you what Spank is trying to get across to you. Mike

Stock Air Box ?

No one said they had a stock air box. Who nowadays has a stock airbox, you don't even have a stock air box. The headlight mod is what I said it was, a FREE mod, you, just like your ET's are obviously SLOW !!!!! I did not trash or bash you, I simply posted a good mod that is FREE. Now you call me an idiot because you have no other positive output towards this thread. You are the one that equals NOTHING !!!!!!!!!Go ahead, what's your next mindless statement?

Hey, if you like stock, that's OK with me. I like to go the modded route, it makes my truck more fun that way, John H.

The second thing is the best bang for free is ripping off a tuners garage.
