Cut a hole in the bottom of the stock airbox, some ppl remove the spare tire and hitch to save some weight. I opted to save my stock box and just upgrade.

Exclamation Easy Mod

Remove your drivers side headlight. It's easy and will let more fresh air get into your engine compartment near the air filter. I can't take credit for this, SouthJersey Fred showed me and it helps, John H.

Cool

I dont know if these are good tips or not, but here goes. Take out the air filter completely and I think that will help some. The mass air meter Im assuming on the L's has a screen in it, so that will atleast stop some big particles from entering the engine. Less air in the back tires for better launch helps some, as does more air in front tires for less rolling resistance. Taking out the air filter does help, but Im not saying you should drive around like that, you can do it at the track when you run, then put it back in for the ride home. Mike

There is NO screen after the air filter.. The Mass air sensor itself and the blower and motor would all be subject to injesting god knows what with NO filter...

I don't think this will help at all, it just might make the truck look stupid. The air box only takes in air from the fender. If you have an aftermarket filter this might work..

Talking

Only makes the truck look stupid, LMAO, that was a good one, and true too. One eyed L would look odd as would any car I bet. I think what hes saying to do would help if you had a different intake set up with dryer hose or something going to the missing headlight area like they used to do in the 5.0 days. Mike

Cool cool, I just figured that free....he didnt wanna get that so he would be using the stock airbox. Maybe cut the hole, then try to take out the light.
